Continuous automation demands a new generation of collecting vessels to enable modern analysis and storage of liquids and pharmaceutical samples. Increasing volumes per well are needed to handle two different samples in one cavity or separate samples by means of magnetic separation.

Accordingly, Ritter Medical has developed its Riplate® range of robotic plates and Riplate® medio special plates to meet modern laboratory requirements.

Riplate® plates feature amplified well diameters and higher volume per cavity to allow faster application processing.

Riplate® ultra-pure construction materials eliminate risks of residues or additives falsifying the results of highly sensitive analyses, etc.

All plates comply with Society for Biomolecular Screening (SBS) standards and feature an alphanumeric coordinate system to allow samples to be clearly assigned and identified.

Riplate® range

The Riplate® range features seven main variants, each one tailored to a specific application.

Riplate® 96

Riplate® 96 well systems are convenient for all prevalent pipetting automates as well as for all 8- and 12-channel pipettes. They can be sealed with adhesive or heat-sealing films.

  • Riplate® 96 plates are manufactured out of highly transparent polystyrene, providing optimal surface for microscopic analysis.
  • Standardized 128 x 85 mm dimensions ensure compatibility with most common laboratory machines.
  • Riplate® 96 is available in U-, V- and F-bottom well shapes, with sterile versions available on request.
  • Working volume: 240–350 μl/wells.

Riplate® 384

Riplate® 384 plates are optimized for smaller sample volumes with a 3mm high frame for stable and slip-free stacking. Higher well rims avoid cross-contamination and allow better closure of plates with adhesive foils.

These plates feature round cavities for reduced capillary forces:

  • Available in transparent PP format for storage applications.
  • Also available in clear, white and black PS formats for microscopic, high luminescence and fluorescent polarization applications.
  • All PS format plates offer choice of flat well bottom for microscopic and optical applications or V-bottom for maximum sample recovery.
  • Total volume: 60 μl/well.
  • Working volume: 30–50 μl/wells.

Riplate® medio

Riplate® medio is designed to optimize storage capacity. Its compact 1mm or 0.5mm high format means stacks occupy less than half the height of conventional plates.

  • Higher well rims allow an airtight closure or sealing of Riplate® medio.
  • The alphanumeric marking allows registration and identification of single samples.
  • New developed conical wells provide a good bioturbation.
  • Total volume: 0.65 ml/well (0.5mm) or 1.2 ml/well (1mm).

Riplate® RW

Riplate® RW is a multifunctional deep well plate format featuring raised wells to reduce risk of cross-contamination. The shape also increases sealing security, whether using heat sealing or adhesive foils. The U-shaped well bottom reduces dead (up-swept) volume.

Footprint is optimized to the SBS-standard, with eight ventilation holes, compatible to all standard robotic systems.

Riplate® RW is ideal for use in thermocyclers, for freezing or for defrosting samples in a hot-water bath or microwave, while its high chemical resistance makes it ideal for sensitive diagnostic applications.

Riplate® 2 ml RW is the first deep well plate with 96 continuous round wells. This plate enables you to mix and, if necessary, separate two samples of 1ml each. Due to the low plate profile, it can also be used with most common storage systems.

  • Available in 1ml and 2ml versions.
  • Available in sterile format

Riplate® SW

Riplate® SW (square well) plates have been developed to optimize sample capacity on a standard SBS footprint. Form follows function, with construction of cavities recognized as crucial for a maximum absorption of liquids. Parallel thin-walled cavities ensure maximum sample storage per well while remaining contamination-free.

Pure polypropylene and lubricant-free construction assists immaculate and secure analysis in chromatography and other high-sensitivity analyses.

Riplate® SW shape supports adhesive film/foils or heat-sealing. Howevercapmats are available for closed well applications and sealing. Significantly, the comparatively high specific well volume allows capmat sealing without risk of liquid displacement and cross-contamination. Capmats are available for all three SW variants:

  • Riplate® SW 5ml: 48 x 5ml V-bottom wells for working volume of 50μl to 4.9ml.
  • Riplate® SW 2ml: 96 x 5ml V-bottom wells for working volume of 50μl to 2.4ml.
  • Riplate® SW 10ml: 24 x 10ml centrally tapered bottom wellsfor working volume of 50μl to 9.9ml.

Riplate® PCR

Riplate® PCR is especially developed for automated Polymerase Chain Reaction analysis, where vessels need to be suitable for fluorescence measurements in order to measure quantitatively DNA retrieved by the reaction. Therefore, Riplate® PCR 96 is constructed from pure polypropylene, titanium dioxide dyed white for consistently excellent reflection.

Careful surface texture design ensures complete flow of sample liquids to the bottom of the tubes, reducing dead volume.
Thin-walled wells of polypropylene ensure high heat transmission and minimize condensation.

V-shaped cavities allow a high recovery of samples and permit an optimal adaption to common thermocyclers.

Raised rims provide a large variety of suitable sealing methods and prevent cross-contamination.

These features make Riplate® PCR very well suited to High Throughput Screening (HTS) as well as manual DNA analysis.

  • Available in white, black and clear frame-less versions for compatibility with Riplate® 96 well systems.
  • Also available in skirted version for stand-alone use.
  • Riplate® PCR individual tubes and 8-tube strips available for smaller batches with closure caps to secure samples during centrifugation.
