L.B. Bohle demonstrating granulation and continuous manufacturing capabilities at MEDELPHARM Distribution Seminar

    September 9th 2024

Ennigerloh, Germany: – World-respected builder of advanced systems for pharma production, L.B. Bohle, will demonstrate its advanced dry granulation and continuous production capabilities at the upcoming MEDELPHARM Distribution Seminar (MDS) in France.

L.B. Bohle will bring a team of experts to the Seminar to run demonstrations on its BRC Dry Granulator and its innovative QbCon® 1 combined granulator and dryer for continuous manufacturing (CM).

    Continuous Manufacturing Focus

The two-day MDELPHARM Distribution Seminar, commencing September 25 at the French compaction simulation specialist’s French headquarters at Beynost near Lyon, will feature a mix of presentations and application workshops tracing the powder transformation journey from research to commercial scale manufacturing.

It will offer invited attendees opportunities to go ‘hands on’ with a range of significant R&D and production equipment with the focus on the potential of CM to revolutionize the efficiencies of the pharma industry. The American FDA has estimated that some drugs that take a month to manufacture using conventional batch processing may take only one day under continuous manufacturing regimes.

    Collaborators

L.B. Bohle will be a leading presence at the Workshop on several levels. Not only is MEDELPHARM the chosen French distributor for its products, but the two companies share a further link via MEDELPHARM’s parent company, global tableting leader KORSCH AG, with whom L.B. Bohle has a long-established strategic collaboration.

Alongside MEDELPHARM compaction simulators, KORSCH tableting press, and L.B. Bohle machinery, the seminar will also feature working installations from other industry names.

    CM Pioneer

The L.B. Bohle team at the Seminar will highlight the company’s pioneering role in developing CM technologies and continuous production systems for solid dosage forms. It has shown how machines required for CM can be designed smaller, because they can produce the same or greater volume of product as conventional equipment within the same time frame.

L.B. Bohle has developed continuous production plants with the BRC Dry Granulator or QbCon® 1, furthermore a semi-continuous film coater and automated continuous supervision and control of all critical process parameters.

The groundbreaking QbCon® 1 is the world’s first truly continuous wet granulator and dryer for R&D applications and the only R&D system in the world that meets the quality requirements of pharmaceutical manufacturing. It features the short residence time of granules in the dryer, with narrow residence time distribution essential for removal of defective products without having to discard a large part of the batch. Additionally, narrow residence time distribution simplifies material traceability in the continuous process.
