KORSCH & MEDELPHARM demonstrate tablet R&D solutions at the 5th European Conference on Pharmaceutics

On March 24–25, 2025, the city of Porto, Portugal hosted the 5th European Conference on Pharmaceutics, bringing together professionals and researchers to exchange insights on the latest developments in pharmaceutical technology. Among the key participants were KORSCH & MEDELPHARM, event sponsors who actively contributed through scientific presentations, live equipment demonstrations, and a strong commitment to academic engagement.

Live Demonstrations and Expert Interaction at Booth #5.

At Booth #5, representatives from MEDELPHARM, KORSCH AG, and Agrosistema – Quentin Boulay, Adrien Pelloux, Dr. Friederike Gütter, and Martin Jusek – welcomed attendees and demonstrated the STYL’One Nano Compaction Simulator in action. The demonstrations emphasized how the tablet press supports formulation development, process optimization, and early-stage tablet screening with minimal material use. Attendees had the opportunity to engage in technical discussions and see first-hand how the STYL’One Nano enhances research and solid dosage development.

Scientific Posters: Advancing Knowledge in Tableting Science

KORSCH & MEDELPHARM also contributed to the scientific program with two research posters:

• Dr. Friederike Gütter from the KORSCH Innovation Center presented her work on refining rotary press parameters to ensure consistent tablet quality during the scale-up phase. Her research provided insights into optimizing compaction and die-filling for high-speed production environments.
• Adrien Pelloux from the MEDELPHARM Science Lab introduced his study on how temperature variations affect critical tablet attributes, such as hardness and appearance. His research made use of MEDELPHARM’s heated die accessory, demonstrating how precise temperature control can help prevent issues like sticking or picking related to API melting—thus improving robustness during formulation and process development.

Partnering with Roquette Pharma: A Joint Demonstration of Excellence

KORSCH & MEDELPHARM also partnered with Roquette Pharma Solutions during the event. Together, they showcased the performance of Roquette’s PEARLITOL® 200 GT mannitol and other advanced direct compression excipients on the STYL’One Nano. The joint demonstration emphasized how carefully selected excipients can enhance formulation behavior, particularly in applications such as taste-masking, and reflected a shared commitment to driving innovation through collaboration.

Empowering Academia through the STYL’One University Contest

In support of academic research, KORSCH & MEDELPHARM launched the STYL’One University Contest, offering universities the chance to win a two-year free loan of the STYL’One Nano. To participate, institutions will submit research proposals showcasing innovative ways they would use the compaction simulator in their work.

A jury will evaluate the submissions based on creativity, scientific merit, and feasibility. Awards include:

• 1st Prize: A two-year complimentary loan of the STYL’One Nano
• 2nd Prize: Access to MEDELPHARM Science Lab & KORSCH INNOVATION CENTER services
• 3rd Prize: Entry to a leading international scientific conference
