Brevetti Angela and 3CK showcase BFS–prefilled syringe integration at PDA Vienna Conference
Vicenza, Italy: Leading manufacturer of Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) pharma packaging machinery, Brevetti Angela Srl, and prefillable syringe specialist 3CK will make a strong combined showing on adjoining stands at this year’s Parenteral Drug Association’s Universe of Pre-Filled Syringes and Injection Devices Conference in Vienna.
The 3CK stand at Booth 118 at the Austria Center will exhibit highly innovative prefilled and prefillable plastic syringe formats, while sister company Brevetti Angela next door at Booth 119 will show equally revolutionary SYFPAC® Blow-Fill-Seal platforms for their aseptic manufacture and filling.
Aseptic synergy
This synergy is perfectly illustrated by the latest development from 3CK, the C-PAD auto-disabling disposable syringe designed for easy and affordable self-administration in developing countries. Primarily developed for contraception, C-PAD is also ideally suited to mass vaccination campaigns, particularly considering that it is manufactured aseptically, cheaply, and at scale on BFS machines.
Brevetti Angela now meets this need with its industry-leading SYFPAC® DUO platform, which forms the centerpiece of its display in Vienna. This newest addition to the SYFPAC® range incorporates all the features needed for prefilled syringe manufacture, including the unique combination of closed parison and insertion technology that provides the best of both worlds: the aseptic isolation and the production flexibility of a revolutionary design.
SYFPAC® DUO also offers advantages for large-scale vaccination or self-injection campaigns, with its compact cleanroom footprint, modular scalability, and ability to support cold filling below 25°C.
Close relationships
Brevetti Angela will be represented at the Universe of Pre-Filled Syringes and Injection Devices Conference by its R&D Director Rajeev Kabbur and Technical Department Coordinator Edoardo Consolaro.
Rajeev Kabbur commented: “We have been closely linked with PDA and its events for many years. In past conferences we shared our stand with 3CK, but this time they deserve to exhibit under their own banner.”
“3CK was born from Brevetti Angela’s expertise in prefilled syringes and today stands as an independent company dedicated to device development and production. It’s the perfect partner for our SYFPAC® Blow-Fill-Seal platforms, and our adjoining booths highlight that close connection,” he explained.
Together, the two companies will present their shared history of pioneering prefilled injection devices to be produced on BFS technology since the 1990s, from the squeezable syringe to the more classic designs with stoppers and piston, up to the latest generations that led to the design of the silicon-free O-Flow. The story culminates in the optimization of the C-PAD device for production on SYFPAC® DUO Blow Fill Seal machines, which in turn are adapted to production of innovative small volumes parenterals from 0.2ml to 50ml.
“The C-PAD is proof that Blow Fill Seal is the perfect choice for production of prefilled syringes and medical devices, thanks to our revolutionary SYFPAC® DUO technology that can add inserts in a closed parison system. This means that the syringe is automatically produced, assembled and filled in a grade A area inside the machine, granting a totally aseptic product. Blow Fill Seal production is quick, efficient and extremely cost effective, as it gives high speed production in the smallest clean room, only six square meters in class C/D,” Mr. Kabbur noted.
