Bubendorf, Switzerland: –Peptide technology specialist Bachem AG will be a prominent presence at the upcoming 10th International Peptide Symposium (IPS) and 55th Japanese Peptide Symposium (JPS) in the ancient Japanese capital of Kyoto.

The appearance comes months after Bachem boosted its presence in Asia by establishing Bachem Japan K.K. as a new subsidiary, based in Tokyo with connections to other Asian countries including South Korea, China and Taiwan.

    Pioneering partner for peptides

Bachem will exhibit from Booth 11 at the Rohm Theatre and Miyako Messe in Kyoto. Under its ‘Pioneering Partner for Peptides’ banner, Bachem will present its comprehensive catalog of off-the-shelf biochemicals, along with its exclusive custom synthesis services for research labs and pharma and biotech industries worldwide.

Bachem will also show IPS 2018 how it supports its customers in the pursuit of groundbreaking discoveries further advancing science and medicine, particularly in the field of biopharmaceuticals.

    State of Art SPPS

Recent Bachem advances include applications of Fmoc solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) for acetylation of peptides.

In Kyoto, senior Bachem Project Chemist, Dr. Alexander Kleinsmann, will deliver a presentation on “Highly pure Octreotide – Development and Scale-Up of a State-of-the-art SPPS Process” at a Bachem-hosted Lunchtime Seminar (12:45 – 1:25 pm) on Day Two of the conference (December 4).

Dr. Kleinsmann will be part of a strong Bachem team in Kyoto that will also include Gary Hu, Vice President, Business Development Asia, and Mashiko Satoshi, Head of Business Development, Japan.

    About IPS/JPS

The 10th International Peptide Symposium (IPS 2018) will be held in conjunction with the 55th Japanese Peptide Symposium (JPS 2018) in the ancient Japanese city of Kyoto.

The IPS is an annual meeting held in various world cities in partnership with local peptide research organizations. IPS focuses on a wide spectrum of topics in peptide science, including discovery, synthesis, biological activity, relationship to physiology and pathology, and application to drugs and materials, featuring lectures from leading scientists alongside oral and poster presentations.

The 2018 conferences form a week-long event, opening December 3 at the Rohm Theatre, Kyoto, and Miyako Messe center.

The conference is organized under the auspices of the Liaison Committee of International Peptide Societies, and hosted by the Japanese Peptide Society with further information at: https://www.aeplan.co.jp/10thips/index.html.
