Bachem makes debut at in-cosmetics Asia expo

Green revolution in cosmetics

Bachem’s physical presence at the event will be led by its Head of Global Research Chemicals & Specialties,  Dr. Gilles Parmentier, who will deliver a presentation to Day Three of the conference agenda on ‘Peptide Manufacturing – The Green Revolution​’ (November 3, 1110 hrs.).

Dr. Parmentier will explain how peptides are now involved in many physiological processes (e.g., increased collagen production) and have various cosmetic benefits, such as anti-aging). The integral mechanisms of peptides within the skin make them particularly valuable cosmetic ingredients.

Molecular Hiving

However, state-of-the-art peptide synthesis requires large excess of reagents and solvents, leading to a high PMI process mass intensity. Dr. Parmentier’s presentation will explore the significance of Bachem’s collaboration with Jitsubo to use exclusive Molecular Hiving™ technology revolutionizes peptides synthesis to minimize solvent and reagent consumption and lower PMI for greener peptide manufacturing. It is especially suited for the synthesis of cosmetic peptides, as carcinogenic, mutagenic, or reprotoxic (CMR) solvents and reagents can entirely be avoided during manufacturing.
