Webinar – Exploring SPPS fragment conjugation strategies for large-scale peptide production
Bubendorf, Switzerland: – The first online webinar for 2026 from TIDES manufacturer Bachem will examine the most efficient methods for large-scale production of peptides, to keep pace with growing demand for new-generation APIs.
The webinar “Evaluation of linear SPPS vs. conjugation of SPPS-based fragments” will be hosted online via the Zoom platform on February 18, 2026, commencing at 17:00 CET (UTC +1) and lasting approximately one hour. Registration is free of charge and can be completed online (see Resources).
The case for fragment conjugation
The greater the scale of peptide production required, the more critical it becomes to select the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturing strategies from the outset. The webinar will therefore compare ‘traditional’ linear Solid-Phase Peptide Synthesis (SPPS) with the latest SPPS-based fragment conjugation methods, focusing on cost and scalability in large-scale production.
The session will reference a real-life case study that sheds light on modeling assumptions, experimental setups, and key efficiency parameters.
The overall aim of the discussion will be to guide peptide-based API manufacturing strategists and pragmatists towards informed decisions in optimizing synthesis approaches.
Expert speakers
The webinar will feature expert technical and scientific insights from Senior Group Leader in Bachem R&D Dr. Pascal Engi, who studied with Prof. Florian Seebeck at the University of Basel for his Ph.D. in designing and synthesizing modified peptide and amino acid probes to elucidate enzymatic mechanisms. Since joining Bachem in 2018, Pascal has been involved with many successful and challenging process development projects as well as GMP and non-GMP manufacturing campaigns.
The session will be moderated by Senior Bachem CMC Project Leader Dr. Günter Pappenberger, who has worked on proteins and peptides across various industries and applications throughout his 30-year career. Günter has worked with Bachem since 2021 and in his current role as CMC project leader supports Bachem clients in the development and implementation of large-scale manufacturing processes for peptides.
