Ennigerloh, Germany: – L.B. Bohle’s new generation pharma process machines have achieved a triple win in the latest German Design Awards.

L.B. Bohle entered three machines for the 2024 Awards: the BFC 400 Tablet Coater, the BRC 100 Dry Granulator and the QbCon® 1, a continuous manufacturing granulator and dryer for research and development. All three have now been confirmed as Award winners.

    Groundbreaking designs

The ‘new line’ L.B. Bohle machinery range was officially launched at the Interpack pharma machinery expo in Düsseldorf in May 2023 to considerable industry acclaim. The new generation process machines feature advanced technology combined with a new look. With the use of new materials, including foils and glass, the design has been transformed into forms and functionality that distinguish these machines from their competitors.

“Our machines have not only been technically optimized, but they have also been redesigned in a groundbreaking industrial design,” commented Executive Director Technology, Thorsten Wesselmann, who led the New Generation Project.

    Team effort

On the advice of the external consultants CAE Innovative Design, who were part of the project team, L.B. Bohle management decided to enter all three machines for the 2024 Design Awards, which are open to companies, agencies, service providers and marketing experts as well as non-profit and governmental organizations from all sectors worldwide. The independent jury of the German Design Council decides on admission to the competition and the subsequent winners.

Following the judging process during October 2023, L.B. Bohle received Gold Awards for the BRC and QbCon®, while the BFC tablet coater received a Special Mention award.

“After the consistently positive reactions to our new machines, we were secretly hoping for an award and now we are absolutely delighted to receive three of them,” says Wesselmann.

    Further success

Overall, L.B. Bohle officials see the award as confirmation that they took the right step with the bold new design.

L.B. Bohle Managing Director Tim Remmert sees further positive effects from the awards in terms of further sales success.

“Thanks to an outstanding team effort within the company, together with external designers, we have succeeded in developing a completely new design line for our systems that ensures identification with the L.B. Bohle company. Winning the German Design Award will also help us attract even more attention and visibility in the market,” said Mr. Remmert.

German Design Award winners and highlighted entries will be formally honored at the Awards Ceremony in Frankfurt am Main on January 26, 2024.
