Berlin: – Dr. Imre Molnár, President of the chromatographic analytical modelling specialist The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE for Applied Chromatography, has been named one of the two 2025 laureates for the prestigious Tswiett-Nernst European Award for outstanding achievement in the separation sciences.

The award was created in 2010 by the European Society for Separation Sciences to be presented to two recipients at the group’s biennial meetings. Ownership of the award passed to the Poland-based CEGSS, the Central European Group for Separation Sciences, following the dissolution of the EuSSS in 2023.

    Distinguished company

Past Tswiett-Nernst laureates have included Professor Vadim Davankov from Moscow, Professor Günther Bonn from Innsbruck, Austria, Professor Pat Sandra of Belgium’s University of Ghent, Professor Wolfgang Lindner from Vienna, Professor Frantisek Svec of Berkley, CA, Professor Klaus Unger of Mainz University, and Professor Pavel Jandera of Pardubice, Czech Republic, Professor Roman Kaliszan from University of Gdansk, Dr. Michel Martin, of Paris. The most recent recipients were Prof. Luigi Mondello and Prof. Bezhan of University of Tbilisi, honored at the 28th ISSS Meeting in Messina, Sicily, in 2022.

Dr. Molnár will be officially honored with Tswiett-Nernst diploma and statuette in the Awards Ceremony that form part of the opening session for the upcoming 29th International Symposium on Separation Sciences (ISSS) in the Serbian capital Belgrade on September 25, 2025.

    Advancing chromatographic techniques

The award recognizes The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE’s contribution to advancing high performance liquid chromatography methodology and applications through the development of its DryLab® series of analytical computer modelling software programs.

In his letter of congratulations CEGSS President Prof. Dr. Bogusław Buszewski tells Dr. Molnár: “I am convinced that the above distinction is due to you, the person who deserved not only at the European level but also worldwide in the development and popularization of chromatographic techniques and related separation methods.”

Dr Molnár will also be delivering a keynote address to the three-day conference.

    About The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE

Founded in 1981, The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE develops DryLab®4, a software for UHPLC modelling for a world-wide market. Its powerful modules gradient editor, peak tracking, automation, robustness and Design Space Comparison allow for the most sophisticated method development as required across modern pharma industries. Analytical scientists use DryLab®4 to understand chromatographic interactions, to reduce analysis time, to increase robustness, and to conform to Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD) principles, according to the recently published ICH Q14 regulatory framework.

The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE is a registered partner of the US-FDA, CDC and many other regulatory bodies. DryLab®4 pioneered AQbD long before regulatory agencies across the world encouraged such submissions. Widely implemented by thought leaders, the software contributes substantially to the paradigm shift towards a science and risk driven perspective on HPLC Quality Control and Assurance.
