Champigneulles, France: – Supercritical fluid chromatography specialist CDMO, French-based SEPAREX, will be presenting its leading edge SFC technologies to the rescheduled Petcore Europe conference later this month.

The one-day Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) industry event will be held in Brussels on February 23, replacing the November event that was postponed there amid French and Belgian security fears.

Waste valorization

“For anyone involved in waste recycling or valorization, particularly of PET, we will be able to demonstrate how we can now decolor waste polyester textiles without degrading fiber quality,” said R&D Coordinator, Dr. Audrey Common, who will represent the company at Petcore, along with Managing Director, Dr. Audrey Ngomsik-Fanselow.

“The processed fibers can then be used to do another textile or as packaging or in plasturgy,” Dr. Common explained.

SEPAREX is now a leading player in waterless recycling and processing of polyethylene-based textiles with its innovations in supercritical fluid technologies, including SFC extraction, SFC micronization and SFC purification.

DeDye process

SEPAREX has developed the award-winning DeDye process, using SFC technology to revolutionize decolorization and recycling of polyester textiles, allowing PET waste to be recycled more efficiently and profitably and at lower environmental impact. SEPAREX is now moving to full scale implementation.

Clean technology

Dr. Ngomsik-Fanselow commented: “Waterless undyeing is just one of the many applications of our supercritical fluid innovations we will bring to Petcore. Others include SFC dyeing, recycling, SFC impregnation and cleaning. All these have huge environmental and process efficiency benefits.”

“SEPAREX can provide these technologies from R&D to implementation and we are continuously innovating in the SFC arena,” Dr. Ngomsik-Fanselow added.

About SEPAREX

SEPAREX is a contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) that specializes in leading edge applications based on advanced research and development (R&D) into supercritical fluid (SFC) and high-pressure technology systems.

SEPAREX is a member of the Netherlands-based FeyeCon Group, which specializes in waste treatment & valorization. The company’s R&D, process development and equipment manufacturing expertise allows clients to build cleaner and greener products that do not rely on fluorinated, chlorinated or liquid organic solvents.

SFC extraction, fractionation, micronization, purification, sterilization, encapsulation and other technologies based on high pressure applications of supercritical CO2 provide non-polluting “tunable” solvents with intermediate properties between liquid and gas that make them highly efficient as reaction media.

SEPAREX also builds and installs production equipment for many different application fields in the pharma, bioscience and fine chemicals industries, including SFC reaction, solid batch extraction and liquid fractionation plants, Aerogel production machinery, and supercritical water oxidization reactors.

This French-based company is thus able to apply a distinctive Supercritical Fluid Engineering approach in working with clients through every stage of process from original concept through product and process development to construction of industrial scale equipment.

About Petcore Europe 2015

The Petcore Europe annual conference is a leading knowledge sharing and networking event for the industry concerned with manufacture, application and processing of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET).

Petcore Europe 2016 is a one-day event, held on February 23 at the Vleva Conference Center, Brussels. The event replaces the November 24, 2015, conference, which was postponed in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks on Paris and security alerts in Brussels.

The event is organized by the industry association Petcore Europe, which focuses on the positioning of PET as a sustainable packaging material by ensuring the development of post-consumer PET collection and recycling.

The annual conference attracts representative from every stage of the PET value chain, as well as relevant EU institutions.
