MEGGLE introduces blend prediction tool at DDL Edinburgh 2025
Wasserburg, Germany: – Pharmaceutical lactose specialist MEGGLE will again use the Drug Delivery to the Lungs (DDL) Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland, as a launchpad for innovation – this time a novel mobile app to help researchers predict the ideal lactose blend for DPI applications.
MEGGLE is a long-time participant and sponsor of the annual DDL Conference. This time it will again be an exhibitor from Booth 154 at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, as well as a Silver Sponsor of the event.
Lactose Blend Prediction
A highlight of the stand will be a working smartphone installation of the Lactose Blend Prediction Tool. This allows DPI formulators to accelerate development with data-driven precision. By simply selecting a fine and coarse lactose fraction and defining target blend composition, the tool instantly predicts blend uniformity and calculates the exact component ratios required.
Results are displayed immediately on screen and can be downloaded via email. All calculations are saved and can be accessed anytime from the login account.
Poster support
MEGGLE is also supporting two of the Poster Presentations, in association with partners.
From Kiel University, MEGGLE-sponsored PhD student Zeredescht Majid will present ‘Magnesium stearate as a force control agent in DPI – revisiting the mechanism of action’. This draws on his work in the research group of Prof. Dr. Regina Scherließ at Kiel, focusing on particle adhesion in powders for inhalation as a collaboration with MEGGLE.
MEGGLE has also partnered with the H&T Presspart specialist Inhalation Technology Product Centre (IPTC) laboratory, whose Director Ameet Sule will post his ‘Evaluation of the effect of fines in Powder blends in combination with a novel capsule-based DPI device’. Ameet’s findings are drawn from blending and characterization analytical testing work carried out in collaboration with MEGGLE and using its lactose grades.
Expert team
The MEGGLE team at DDL 2025 will include Head of Research & Development, Dr. Ricarda Leister, and Business Development Manager for Inhalation Excipients, Tristan Mul.
Dr. Leister commented: “We are pleased to be returning to this increasingly valuable conference, which provides up with an ideal platform to share our expertise in lactose-based excipients for DPI applications and to meet our peers and partners.”
