Laboratory Film Coater BFC 5
The L.B. Bohle BFC 5 Laboratory Film Coater is a compact, high-performance tablet coating system designed for pharmaceutical research and development (R&D), process optimization, and small-scale production.
The modular design, advanced features, and sophisticated engineering of the BFC 5 make it ideal for achieving precise, reproducible tablet coating results using minimal materials and in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards.
BFC 5 Design and Features
The BFC 5 is designed as a mobile stand-alone unit with fully integrated air handling, electrical, and control systems within the compact cabinet, requiring only electrical and compressed air connections for operation.
The Laboratory Film Coater is designed for flexibility with different pan (drum) configurations supporting a wide range of batch sizes up to 13 liters, as used for research and development or for process optimization.
The advanced multiple nozzle design enables fine-tuning of coating processes to improve efficiency and product quality before scaling up to full production, as well as quick and efficient cleaning between batches.
Control is enhanced with the Win CC visualization touch panel with extensive process control tools.
Laboratory Tablet Coating Applications
Coating of tablets for stability, appearance and fine-tuning of dosage release is a challenging process that requires a combination of spraying, mixing and drying. All three processes must run simultaneously using the correct settings to achieve optimal coating uniformity.
The L.B. Bohle Laboratory Tablet Coater meets these needs with its blend of sophisticated engineering and advanced control systems, allowing it to support the main lab applications in tablet development:
- Research & Development: Ideal for developing and testing new tablet formulations, allowing for precise control over coating parameters.
- Process Optimization: Small-Scale Production: Suitable for producing small batches for clinical trials or niche markets, ensuring consistent coating quality.
BFC 5 Laboratory Coater benefits
- Performance: New modular nozzle arm provides flexibility and superior coating results with up to four nozzles depending on application.
- Flexibility: BFC 5 can be operated with one of two different pan sizes plus Mini-Drum as an option to handle batches from as small as 200 ml up to 13 liters.
- Thorough cleaning with multiple cleaning nozzles ensuring complete wetting and cleaning of the entire surface.
- Easy maintenance: Improved accessibility to process area and sensors.
- User friendly: Multipanel visualization and touch panel interfaces provide intuitive operation and comprehensive process monitoring.
BFC 5 Specifications
The BFC 5 Laboratory Tablet Coater can be operated with two pans (Drum 1 and Drum 2) that can be exchanged manually and dismantled for easy cleaning. A transport trolley is included for unit mobility and easy discharge. Flexibility is further enhanced by incorporating a divider plate in the smaller pan that allows fine tuning of the working area. The laboratory coater can also be optionally equipped with a mini drum (Drum 3) for even smaller batch sizes.
