Gasporox presents new GPX1500 Film Pharma tester at PDA 2021
Lund, Sweden: – Non-destructive testing technology specialist Gasporox AB was a prominent presence at the recent 11th Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) Parenteral Packaging Conference held as an online even over two days in late April.
Gasporox used the virtual event as a global platform to launch its latest spot check instrument, the GPX1500 Film Pharma Instrument , based on its new approach to headspace analysis HSA testing.
Non-intrusive IV bag testing
The Gasporox GPX1500 Film Pharma Instrument represents a new approach to headspace oxygen gas analysis that enables fast, accurate, non-intrusive and non-destructive testing of IV bags, pouches and other pharmaceutical products. Results are presented immediately on HMI touch screens and data-logged. The instrument is designed to operate parameter free for reliable and accurate results in pharmaceutical laboratory and production testing.
The new GPX1500 Film Pharma is the latest addition to Gasporox’s expanding range of headspace gas analysis solutions, alongside the GPX1500 Vial instrument for testing injectable drug vials such as vaccine vials.
Gasporox contributed a poster on ‘Non-Destructive / Non-Intrusive IV Bag Headspace Oxygen Measurement’ to the conference.
In parallel with the GPX1500 Film Pharma launch, its Senior Sales Manager and Application Specialist Roland Koch was an online presence at the PDA parenteral packaging conference, where he presented the results of the latest development Gasporox has brought to the industry, reviewing the applicability and reliability of GPX1500 technology as a non-destructive method for IV bags analysis.
“I was able to use this valuable event to show the considerable user advantages of this new instrument, in particular how its non-destructive measurement lets users return test samples to the production line with no waste. This technology supports oxygen degradation investigations as well as stability trends and end of shelf-lives studies,” said Mr. Koch.
Gasporox, based in Lund in southern Sweden, develops and manufactures laser-based sensors for integration into in-line inspection and production lines for Headspace Analysis and Leak Detection. Gasporox sensors are also available in various instruments ideal for quality control and at-line inspection of packaging and support many different package formats as highly effective tools for more efficient sample testing and greener production.
The GasSpect for Headspace Analysis sensors work with transparent and non-transparent packages like trays, bags, bottles, containers and can measure O2, CO2, H2O, CO2, pressure, residual oxygen and more. The LeakSpect for Leak Detection sensor series work with transparent and non-transparent packages like trays, bags, bottles and containers of many types of material and can detects leaks of O2 and CO2.
GASPOROX technology has been proven for performance and robustness over more than a decade in the pharmaceutical industry in the testing of parenteral drugs. It is integrated and used in machines, systems and instruments for total lab and production testing of vials and ampoules in many parenteral packaging lines.
Gasporox testing technologies are non-destructive, deterministic and USP 1207 and ASTM recognized.

About PDA Parenteral Packaging Conference 2021
The Parenteral Drug Association (PDA) 2021 PDA Parenteral Packaging Conference has become an industry reference event for high quality knowledge sharing on all aspects of the drug-package interface.
The 11th PDA Parenteral Packaging Conference, themed ‘Parenteral Packaging in a New Era: Convergence of Patient, Process and Product Needs’ was hosted over two days from April 27, 2021, as a virtual event.
Topics on the agenda included developments in packaging materials such as glass and polymer, implementation of new guidelines, for example Annex 1 of the European GMP Guideline and USP 800, and the role of Container Closure Integrity (CCI) in product-package development, assembly and processing.
The event was organized by the PDA in association with PMPS. Further information available at: https://www.pda.org/global-event-calendar/event-detail/parenteral-packaging
