Gasporox AutoMAP™ Pharma wins CPHI Award with quantum leap in inline CCIT testing of flexible containers
Lund, Sweden: – The innovative Gasporox AutoMAP™ Pharma non-destructive integrity testing module for flexible packaging has been crowned as winner of the 2023 CPHI Pharma Awards in the Packaging & Machinery category.
The AutoMAP™ Pharma solution applies Gasporox proprietary TDLAS (tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy) technology for non-intrusive headspace gas testing to in-line checking of flexible modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) pharma pouches, sachets, and I/V bags at production speeds. It takes the form of a compact TDLAS module that can easily be added to any filling and packaging line, achieving substantial production cost savings.
Meeting industry need
The CPHI Awards judges noted that AutoMAP™ Pharma resolves a long-standing industry problem in being able to ascertain that nitrogen purging has been successful during aseptic filling of flexible MAP containers. Because TDLAS can ‘reach inside’ the bag to measure oxygen levels, AutoMAP™ can provide an inline check of container closure integrity, using an effective vacuum pick up/scan/drop action at around 60 items per minute.
Gasporox CEO Märta Lewander Xu, who led the Gasporox team at CPHI Barcelona, commented:
“With our very welcome win in the CPHI Pharma Awards Packaging & Machinery category, we hope that people will understand how good this product is. Simply put, this prize will strengthen our position in the market and make AutoMAP™ even more attractive to potential customers.”
Consistent award challenger
Gasporox has featured prominently in previous CPHI Awards. At the 2020 show in Milan, its GPX Porosity System was among the finalists for the Gold Award for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Analysis, Testing and Quality Control.
AutoMAP™ is a companion for the Vial Arch™ in line sensor module for real time vial testing on packaging lines, which was launched at CPhI Worldwide 2021 and was also selected as a short-listed finalist in the ‘Excellence in Pharma: Manufacturing, Technology & Equipment’ category at the CPHI Pharma Awards at the 2022 Frankfurt show.
About Gasporox
Gasporox, based in Lund in southern Sweden, develops and manufactures laser-based sensors for integration into in-line inspection and production lines for Headspace Analysis and Leak Detection. Gasporox sensors are also available in various instruments ideal for quality control and at-line inspection of packaging and support many different package formats as highly effective tools for more efficient sample testing and greener production.
The VialArch® is a unique laser-based solution for vials to be installed on the production line for 100% quality inspection for residual oxygen and container closure integrity testing. The laser beam is passing the headspace of the moving vials to perform laser-based headspace analysis (HSA), non-destructive and with precise measurements of the residual oxygen in the headspace.
The GPX1500 Film Pharma is a compact and easy to use instrument to measure accurate the headspace of pharmaceutical bags and pouches. It’s designed to operate parameter free to have a reliable and accurate use in the pharmaceutical production and lab. The GPX1500 Vial is the Film Pharma’s sibling for rigid containers, like vials and ampoules.
The available Headspace Analysis sensors work with many types of containers like vials, ampoules, bottles, bags and trays and are available for measuring O2, CO2, H2O, or the pressure inside the inspected container and are suitable for Leak Detection on packages like trays, bags. These sensors can be integrated into production machines and also form the basis for stand-alone instruments.
Gasporox technology has been proven for performance and robustness over more than a decade in the pharmaceutical industry in the testing of parenteral drugs. It is integrated and used in machines, systems and instruments for total lab and production testing of vials and ampoules in many parenteral packaging lines.
Gasporox testing technologies are non-destructive and deterministic and recommended by <USP1207>.
