DryLab® Automation extended to Agilent OpenLab CDS

news-releasesMolnár-Institute for applied chromatography
March 3rd 2026

Berlin: – The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE for Applied Chromatography has produced a new version of its Automation Module that is now compatible with Agilent’s OpenLab CDS chromatography data system software.

DryLab® Automation module was previously available only for the Waters Empower CDS platform. Empower CDS users were able to benefit from the extended DryLab® functionality that included hands-off creation of sample set methods, and acquisition of any DryLab® input or verification experiments in Empower.

Additionally, the module facilitates retrieving processed results (chromatograms) and key peak information (peak shape and mass data) directly from the CDS database without manual export steps.

Direct Integration Benefits

Now Agilent OpenLab CDS customers will also be able to benefit from direct integration of all DryLab® analytical software features. These key benefits include:

  • Increased Efficiency: Agilent users will now be able to share the significantly enhanced efficiency offered by the Automation module. Automated data import from OpenLab into DryLab® accelerates method evaluation while eliminating manual transfer errors, thereby improving data consistency.
  • Improved Reproducibility: The seamless connection between the systems ensures that method development and optimization via the DryLab®/OpenLab integration can lead to highly consistent and reproducible results.
  • Seamless Network Integration: After installing a small DryLab® update on the PC hosting the Agilent OpenLab client, the automation module will integrate smoothly into existing network infrastructure, making it accessible across the whole laboratory system.

The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE is recruiting beta testers for the latest DryLab® version and invites any Agilent users interested to get in touch via email at: [email protected] or from the contact form on its home page (see Resources). Testers will get the opportunity to be first adopters of the new software at a reduced price.

About The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE

Founded in 1981, The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE develops DryLab®4, a software for UHPLC modelling for a world-wide market. Its powerful modules gradient editor, peak tracking, automation, robustness and Design Space Comparison allow for the most sophisticated method development as required across modern pharma industries. Analytical scientists use DryLab®4 to understand chromatographic interactions, to reduce analysis time, to increase robustness, and to conform to Analytical Quality by Design (AQbD) principles, according to the recently published ICH Q14 regulatory framework.

The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE is a registered partner of the US-FDA, CDC and many other regulatory bodies. DryLab®4 pioneered AQbD long before regulatory agencies across the world encouraged such submissions. Widely implemented by thought leaders, the software contributes substantially to the paradigm shift towards a science and risk driven perspective on HPLC Quality Control and Assurance.

About DryLab®

The MOLNÁR-INSTITUTE DryLab® Software for Analytical Design Space Modeling is based on ground-breaking HPLC method development and optimization software developed by Lloyd Snyder and his team of fellow researchers from the 1980s onwards.

DryLab® predicts chromatograms under a much wider range of experimental conditions than would be possible in the laboratory, allowing researchers to quickly determine exactly how separations change under multiple varied method parameters, such as pH, temperature, or buffer concentration

Using data generated from as few as two input experiments, DryLab® can predict resolution and retention times for millions of unique, virtual chromatograms with >99% accuracy. Based on a Design of Experiments (DoE) method, DryLab® can create a multi-dimensional resolution model that depicts the set of conditions under which baseline separations are achieved.

The software also allows researchers to predict how changes in many additional method parameters will affect your separation, such as flow rate, column dimensions, instrument parameters, and eluent in gradient and isocratic conditions. This provides maximum flexibility for method optimization and method transfer.
