Lindau, Germany – DORNIER-LTF, the German-based maker of the ‘intelligent’ pipetting device PIRO®, has announced that all relevant units of its pipetting robotic manufacture have now been awarded ISO certification.

The ISO 9001 certificates for DORNIER-LTF covers sales, development, production and after-sales service for pipetting robots. The three-year certification is effective through to end-June 2016.

Dr. Rudolf Walser, DORNIER-LTF’s Director of Applications and Sales, commented: “We are delighted to have completed the lengthy and rigorous processes demanded for full ISO 9001:2008 certification. This demonstrates our definite commitment to quality and to excellence of customer service.”

“In the process of obtaining ISO 9001, we have needed to demonstrate a very high degree of consistency between internal performance and product quality, along with processes that build in continuous improvement in quality and service, along with sustainable quality assurance,” Dr. Walser noted.

International Development
“Together, these process improvements add up to a new chapter in our development as a company,” said Dr. Walser. “They will allow us to deliver even higher levels of customer satisfaction and competitiveness. They will also allow us to improve our sustainability by reducing waste in terms of rejects and errors,” he added.

DORNIER-LTF first decided to seek ISO 9001 certification in 2011, as the success of its PIRO® system increasingly won the firm greater recognition in international markets, emphasising the need for pan-European quality standards.

PIRO® is an easy-to-program, personal pipetting robot that can be used for many liquid handling needs. The simplicity of use for the sophisticated robot, which requires only five preparation steps to process anything from simple liquid transfers to highly complex applications, has gained DORNIER-LTF increasing numbers of customers in Europe, North America and Asia.

New Relationships
Dr. Walser said the ISO assurance of robust health, safety and sustainability processes, along with rigorous product and sales quality standards provided the assurance demanded by existing and prospective customers and would allow DORNIER-LTF to cultivate deeper customer relationships with world-class manufacturers and laboratories.

“Increasingly we are now doing business with some of the biggest names in the pharmaceutical industry: highly professional commercial organisations that demand the specialised and technical assurances that ISO certification delivers,” said Dr. Walser.

“While we have always been able to satisfy customers about our rigorous approaches to product and service quality and management responsibility, the ISO recognition now provides instant confirmation of many of those standards. This enables sales discussions to take place at a much higher level almost from the start,” he said.
