Lindau, Germany: – Laboratory engineering specialist DORNIER–LTF will exhibit its next generation PIRO® personal pipetting robot at the important analytica 2016 fair in Munich.

The German company will exhibit at Booth 216 in Hall A3 at Messe Munich. This will be the fourth successive analytica event it has attended, having been an exhibitor at the previous Munich fairs in 2010, 2012 and 2014.

LIMS integration

Centerpiece of the DORNIER-LTF display will be the upgraded PIRO benchtop liquid handling system, now featuring revised flow system with optimized sequences, capable of being integrated into any laboratory information management system (LIMS). The new PIRO also offers intelligent pipetting from database, bringing affordable through matrix import and qPCR set up to smaller molecular biology laboratories.

The DORNIER-LTF show team will conduct live demonstrations and tutorials of PIRO’s expanded capabilities on their stand. The company’s General Manager, Hubert Becher, will be present on stand during Day Two of the show on Wednesday May 11. Other members of the DORNIER-LTF support team will be present throughout the event.

Data tracking

“These latest enhancements to PIRO make it ideal for every modern and innovative labs that needs to employ full data tracking of all components, “ said Dr. Rudolph Walser, DORNIER-LTF Head of Application and Sales, who will also be on the show team.

“We will be able to demonstrate PIRO’s ability to work reliably and efficiently, offering high throughput and high density experiments in a package that is very easy to handle and with a uniquely compact footprint,” said Dr. Walser.

Dr. Walser features in a video presentation of PIRO filmed at the recent BIOTECNICA event in Hannover and posted to the LabTube channel.

Intelligent pipetting

DORNIER-LTF’s Laboratory Information System middleware allows PIRO to function to work as a fully integrated ‘intelligent pipetting’ link between upstream extraction devices and downstream detection devices.

“This is highly intuitive software that allows easy setup of reactions, along with flexible plate handling, liquid level sensing, drag and drop programming for qPCR setup, multi-dispensing functions, easy recalibration, normalization and serial dilutions,” said Dr. Walser.

The company will also use the analytica event to host a distributor meeting during the exhibition.

“For us, analytica is a must-attend event for us that allows us to connect with our core user base of laboratory managers, researchers and commercial research organizations, cultivating even closer customer and distributor relationships, while raising awareness that our company has added a highly flexible and time saving instrument to the laboratory market,” Dr. Walser added.

About DORNIER-LTF

DORNIER-LTF was formed from the partnership of high-tech engineering company Dornier GmbH with laboratory specialist LTF, to bring together state-of-the-art German engineering with applied scientific research experience.

The company specializes in creating reliable and easy to use high precision liquid handling devices that aid laboratory automation. DORNIER-LTF has developed affordable automated liquid handling and precision pipetting technologies, in particular the newly developed PIRO® pipetting small robot that integrates high throughput benefits within a compact and easy to handle device. It combines 16-position liquid handling with a benchtop footprint.

PIRO is designed as a PCR setup robot, offering high end personal pipetting in an innovative and easy to use benchtop instrument, that can provide middleware between upstream and downstream application.

About analytica 2016

The 25th International Trade Fair for Laboratory Technology, Analysis, Biotechnology and Analytica, or analytica 2016, is one of the world’s leading summits for state-of-the-art laboratory technology and biotechnology. The combined trade fair and conference covers a wide range of subjects connected with laboratory process and technology in breadth and depth.

Analytica 2016 is a three-day event opening May 10 at the Messe München Center, where it has been held every second year since 1968. The 2014 analytica event attracted more than 35,000 visitors from some 120 countries, with some 1,200 exhibitors.

The event includes the analytica conference in the nearby International Congress Center, attracting some 1,600 delegates and featuring more than 300 lectures and speakers over three days.

Supporting program includes the analytica Forum, Finance Day, Job Day, analytica Research Award and training events.
