Overview

Biowest is now able to offer a very high quality range of human primary cells, thank to its collaboration with ABCell-Bio, the Paris-based specialist in isolation and culture of characterized primary human cells.

The Biowest human primary cell range consists of CD34+, CD133+, EPC, HUVEC, HUAEC and hMSC: cells to support hematopoiesis, vascular biology and tissue regeneration applications.

The cell range features exceptional purity and traceability, backed by rigorous research and extensive scientific and logistic support.

Product Range

The Biowest range of human primary cells is organised in three groups:

Hematopoiesis
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) are the starting point for the hematopoiesis process: the production of blood cells or components. They ensure the permanent production of all the different blood cell lines, allowing them to be constantly renewed. The hematopoietic stem cells can differentiate into myeloid and lymphoid precursors.

Several surface markers, such as CD34 or CD133, define hematopoietic stem cells. These different phenotypic markers are used for the identification and purification of the HSC population.

Biowest offers high quality CD34+ Cells and CD133+ Cells, originated from cord blood, that exhibit purity rates greater than 95%. The source of origin (from fresh donor to cryotube) provides absolute traceability. HLA genotyping is available on request.

Vascular Biology
Biowest supplies Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial cells and Human Umbilical Aortic Endothelial cells (HUVECs/HUAECs) along with Endothelial Progenitor Cells (EPCs) to support the study of vascular biology in which endothelial cells play different roles.

Used in many pharmacology and research studies on angiogenesis, atherosclerosis, inflammation, immunity and oncology, endothelial cells are subject to rigorous controls.

These cells are sourced from umbilical cord vein (HUVEC), artery (HUAEC) or umbilical cord blood, with 100% traceability assured by direct route from tissue to cryotube.

The exceptionally high cell quality ensures high recovery rates with optimal success rate in xenograft transplantation.

The highly functional EPCs are Naive cells and stable in culture.

Tissue Regeneration
Tissue regeneration is made possible by human mesenchymal stem cells (hMSCs) that combine stem properties with support functions. MSCs are multipotent and can differentiate into a wide variety of cell types with ability to self-renew. Several studies show that the ability and the diversity of mesenchymal stem cells are differentiated according to the origin of the source tissue.

Biowest hMSCs are optimally sourced from human bone marrow, umbilical cord and are all tested in vitro for clonogenic ability, as well as differentiation into adipocytes, chondrocytes, and osteoblasts.

They exhibit low passage characteristics, reducing occurrences of anomalies.
