Bachem webinar on manufacturing complex peptides
Bubendorf, Switzerland: – The latest webinar from leading CDMO Bachem will provide insights on the challenges of manufacturing complex peptides and their solutions.
The webinar ‘Learn About Methods For Making Long And Complex Peptides’ will be hosted on the Zoom platform on Thursday, February 23, 2023, starting at 1630 hrs UTC and lasting around one hour.
Functionalizing peptides
The presenters will seek to answer the most pressing questions about peptide and small protein development, such as which of the current available production techniques should be preferred for long chain, complex and functionalized peptides.
The session will also identify the manufacturing processes that best support functionalization of peptides, discussing the pros and cons of latest generation technologies for solid phase or chemo-enzymatic peptide synthesis (SPPS and CEPS), native chemical ligation, and recombinant methods such as the α-Ketoacid-Hydroxylamine (KAHA) Amide-Forming Ligation chemical reaction used to join two unprotected fragments.
CEPS pioneers
Principal speakers will be from one of Bachem’s closest partners on peptide synthesis, Netherlands-based EnzyTag, which first developed the innovative peptiligase-based CEPS technology that offers substantial advantages for efficiency and sustainable greener manufacturing.
EnzyTag CEO Dr. Leendert Van Den Bos, CEO of EnzyTag BV, studied bio-organic chemistry at Leiden University and has worked with Organon BioSciences, Schering-Plough, Merck Sharp & Dohme and Aspen Pharmacare before helping to set up EnzyTag in 2018 to focus on development of chemo-enzymatic processes for complex peptide API’s.
Co-presenter Dr. Anna Koijen, is a senior scientist at EnzyTag who has been closely involved in CEPS synthesis of peptides and proteins using the peptiligase technology. She studied biotechnology at FH Aachen, University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Münster and holds a PhD from Forschungszentrum Jülich for her work focusing on enzyme engineering for the stereoselective formation of chiral building blocks.
Moderator for the webinar will be Bachem Bubendorf Senior Business Development Manager Dr. Bernd Raschack, a doctorate scientist who was a founder member of the Bachem team that established a sustainable New Chemical Entity (NCE) customer pipeline for Bachem in Europe.
