Rueil Malmaison, France: – Temperature-controlled logistics and pharmaceutical cold chain packaging specialist Sofrigam S.A. is headed for the 15th Annual Cold Chain GDP & Temperature Management Global Forum 2017, now being staged in Chicago, USA.

Stand Sofrigam at the co-located trade exhibition will offer visitors opportunities to get ‘hands on’ with the company’s wide range of temperature controlled shipping and delivery cartons, patient centric bags and pouches and data-enabled intelligent solutions.

Patient centric cooling

In particular, Sofrigam will showcase its cooling bags and pouches specially designed to fit the end-user needs of diabetic and other patients.

“Ergonomic, easy to use, easy to transport and with temperature-controlled durations from few hours to several days, these bags are the perfect solution for daily use,” said Sofrigam SA Marketing Director, Laetitia Perche.

“Patients with chronic diseases now have easy solutions that fit their daily lives. These bags and pouches provide real patient-centric cooling solutions. With total patient experience now at the heart of pharma labs’ preoccupations on overall quality of life, patient-centricity is the new challenge,” she explained.

It all connects

Sofrigam will also show how Big Data, Artificial Intelligence and specific health tools have become increasingly interconnected in healthcare delivery.

“Health is now definitely connected,” commented Laetitia Perche. “That changes everything in the way people are treated. Personalized medicine is now a reality with the global personalized medicine market expected to increase by close to 12 per cent from 2014 to 2022. As medicines become more complex, using live elements, so the number of heat-sensitive medicines is on track to grow by 45 per cent between 2011 and 2017, to account for around half the medicines on the market,” she noted.

Security and traceability of shipment are also increasing important aspects of cold supply chain management, with increasing need for GDP compliant containers to ensure total product integrity.

Intelligent cold chain solutions

“For all these reasons, it is now very important to have a secure, optimized and very well managed cold chain logistics supply chain. Pharmaceutical labs spend so much in developing innovative medicines that they can’t afford to fail to deliver safely, keeping them at the right temperature range all the way through to end-use,” Ms. Perche pointed out

Accordingly, Sofrigam has recently developed a range of ‘intelligent‘ cold chain containers, such as iBox, also be on show in Chicago.

Completely autonomous with no need of an external power, the semi-active iBox can keep the products at +5°C for at least 120 hours, with integrated logger confirming temperature has been maintained.

Gold sponsor

“We are delighted to be a Gold Sponsor for this great event. As a leading provider of pharmaceutical temperature controlled packaging solutions, now implanted in the USA with our own production site, we could hardly miss this meeting focused on temperature controlled life science supply chain,” said Laetitia Perche.

“Once again, we’ll have the chance to show how Sofrigam can offer cost-effective global cold chain solutions that allow the world’s best pharma and life-sciences companies to deliver their valuable products worldwide, direct to patient if need be, whatever their logistics, technic or human constraints,” she concluded.
