Showcasing continuous biotech production advances at microbial engineering conference in Portugal
Vienna, Austria: – Recombinant proteins specialist CDMO enGenes Biotech will be a scientific contributor to the third ECI Microbial Engineering Conference (ME III), sharing its latest advances towards continuous production of biotechnological products.
Led by Mr. Florian Simon, the enGenes team at ME III will present the latest data from its participation in the ECOnti project that is developing an accelerated, low ecological footprint manufacturing platform for the continuous production of biotechnological products.
Novel E. coli strain
enGenes will present a poster “Engineering of a Novel E. coli Strain for Sustainable, End-to-End Continuous Manufacturing of Biomolecules”, authored by Florian Simon, MSc. that explores one aspect of the ECOnti work.
The poster will highlight application of proprietary enGenes technologies, such as -eXcess™ technology to optimize the manufacturing of high-quality plasmid DNA for gene therapy and vaccine development as well as the -eXchange™ platform for antibiotic-free and resistance marker-free manufacturing of recombinant proteins and plasmid DNA.
It will also emphasize the influential role of its -eXpress™ and -eXcite™ technologies in the drive towards greener continuous production of biologics, as part of the ECOnti consortium, in partnership with Novasign GmbH, Qubicon AG, SimVantage GmbH, Tosoh, and BOKU University
About enGenes Biotech
enGenes Biotech GmbH (enGenes) is a contract research, development and manufacturing company that provides leading-edge technologies and production services focused on recombinant proteins in bacteria. The company’s mission is to provide cost-effective and scalable production of recombinant proteins at a fraction of the current cost, allied to a vision of developing a world-class portfolio of cutting-edge protein production technologies, relevant to a broad spectrum of application fields.
enGenes has developed advanced technologies to drive more cost-effective recombinant protein production processes, including its proprietary enGenes -eXpress™ E. coli platform that achieves outstanding yields of soluble and active recombinant protein. enGenes -eXpress™ has been successfully applied for the manufacturing of enzymes and biopharmaceutical products that failed to give economically feasible yields in a conventional expression host.
enGenes Biotech offers development and manufacturing services tailored to the needs of pharmaceutical and industrial biotech companies. The services include expression strain and vector development, fermentation process development and optimization, downstream process development, production of purified protein, technology transfer and scale-up support with technology out-licensing and co-development opportunities.

About ME III 2025
Conceived by Engineering Conferences International (ECI) and first staged in 2018, the Microbial Engineering forum brings together leaders in Synthetic Biology, Metabolic Engineering and Fermentation Technology from industry and academia to discuss latest applications in natural products, therapeutic proteins, vaccines and biosynthesis of a great variety of organic chemicals.
The first ME Conference was held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, in 2018, with ME II hosted in Albufeira, Portugal in 2022. Post COVID, ME III returns as a full face-to-face meeting and a four-day event, opening March 30 at the Hilton Porto-Gaia Hotel in Porto in northern Portugal.
The conference theme: ‘Microbial Engineering III: New Generation of Cell Factory to Meet the Future Challenges and Seize New Opportunities’ will cover a variety of topics covering various advances in the microbial engineering space and their impact in a wide range of applications from therapeutics to sustainable products. In addition, the conference will address “competing technologies” that could affect future strategies.
The event it organized by ECI with further information at: https://engconf.us/conferences/biotechnology/microbrial-engineering-iii/
