Presenting solutions for continuous pDNA production at Bioprocessing Summit USA
Vienna, Austria: – Recombinant proteins and plasmid DNA specialist CDMO enGenes Biotech is returning to the annual CHI Bioprocessing Summit with further insights on groundbreaking continuous production technologies for plasmid DNA (pDNA).
Since last year, enGenes has begun attending both the European and American Bioprocessing Summits as its patented expression and purification platforms become increasingly important in progress towards more sustainable and efficient continuous production of proteins and pDNA.
Continuous pDNA manufacturing solutions
At the previous Boston summit, enGenes CEO and co-founder Dr. Jürgen Mairhofer delivered a presentation on fully end-to-end continuous production of recombinant proteins using E. coli. This time, he will show how similar technologies and concepts are helping to master the pDNA challenge.
His Day Two presentation ‘iCAP: Integrated Continuous & Automated Platform for Plasmid Production’ (Tuesday, Aug 11 at 17:10) will close out the Intensified & Continuous Bioprocessing session as part of the summit’s Intensification & Digitalization track.
iCAP – integrating bioprocess intensification with digital intelligence
Plasmid DNA underpins viral vectors, mRNA vaccines, and DNA therapeutics, yet production is limited by costly, low-yield batch processes. Dr. Mairhofer will show how the iCAP research program aims to transform the situation with a continuous, automated microbial platform integrating bioprocess intensification and digital intelligence.
The program is developing a system that combines genetically stabilized E. coli and a growth-decoupled replication system to enable stable, long-term plasmid production in bioreactor cascades.
iCAP is envisaged as a modular and scalable platform to reduce costs and environmental impact while supporting decentralized vaccine manufacturing and integrated therapeutic supply – setting a new benchmark for sustainable, next-generation plasmid DNA biomanufacturing.
Leveraging technologies
Jürgen Mairhofer will explain how continuous alkaline lysis, chromatographic purification, and real-time digital twin–based control can ensure high-throughput, low-variability recovery. He will also show how enGenes’ proprietary technology platforms, including -eXcite for continuous manufacturing of biomolecules in E. coli, -eXrase hi-tech endonuclease, and -eXffinity affinity ligands are key enablers for increased process efficiency.
enGenes is also treating the Summit as a primary networking opportunity, with Dr. Mairhofer participating in its various face to face meetings and virtual engagements via the Summit’s 1:1 platform.
