Boston, MA: – Organizers of this month’s ManuBio summit for biomanufacturing decision makers have confirmed that Scott Kaplan, Senior Director of Project Development at Pharmadule Morimatsu Inc., has joined the list of keynote speakers.

Mr. Kaplan’s address will build on a recent magazine article to show how adopting more integrated and modular approaches to designing and constructing biotech facilities can play key roles in combating the threat of pipeline attrition caused by inefficiencies and failure to meet regulatory standards.

His company is the US arm of Swedish-based Pharmadule Morimatsu AB, designer and builder of modular production facilities for the pharma and biopharma industries.

“I will demonstrate how flexible designs and adaptable solutions can support the more holistic view of the project lifecycle that ManuBio is keen to promote,” said Mr. Kaplan.

“In particular, I aim to show the summit some radical new solutions that leverage the advantages of single-use process equipment, modular design and off-site fabrication, thus streamlining the delivery process while enhancing predictability and mitigating risk,” he said.

Pharmadule will also be exhibiting its design technologies and turnkey solutions at the event in Boston, starting June 10.

Large-molecule shift

“A major theme of the conference will be that the shift in emphasis towards large-molecule drugs has led to an industry shift towards biologic development with which laboratory development and manufacturing are still struggling to keep pace,” said Mr. Kaplan.

“We all know that airtight biopharmaceutical production facilities are essential if the new investment in LMD development is really to reap its due rewards. The revolutionary types of modular design and off-site construction methodologies we have pioneered in Sweden can help to make that vision become reality,” he commented.

“This is Pharmadule’s first appearance at the ManuBio summit and we’re looking forward to the chance to exchanging information about trends in our industry, finding out about new projects and meeting the key decision makers in the many companies who could benefit from our knowhow and services,” added Mr. Kaplan.
