Phage Consultants brings contamination control technologies to ‘rescued’ RAFT® fermentation conference

Gdansk, Poland: – Specialist bacteriophage CRO Phage Consultants (PC) will return as a participant and exhibitor at next month’s RAFT fermentation technology conference in Florida.

PC’s CEO and co-founder Professor Marcin Los has paid tribute to the work of organisers Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB) in enabling the event to go ahead despite serious damage caused by the recent Hurricane Ian to the original venue at the Hyatt Regency Coconut Point resort in Bonita Springs.

“SIMB has done a brilliant job in rescuing this valuable event,” said Marcin Los.

Protecting fermentations

Phage Consultants will have a stand at Booth 4 in the Exhibition Zone at the Caribe Royale resort in Orlando, FL., where the conference has relocated.

The PC display and its networking activities will particularly highlight the crucial contribution its bacteriophage expertise, contamination control tools and services can make to keeping fermentation programmes trouble-free. The Phage Consultants presence in Orlando will be led by Dr. Los, who is a world-recognized expert in the study of bacteriophages.

“We are delighted to be returning to RAFT as one of our favorite events that we first attended back in 2013,” Dr. Los observed.

“The cell culturing and fermentation community is one that is very aware of the potential of phages, which can cause huge problems in both processes but also as powerful tools to diagnose and protect them from other bacterial and viral infections” he said.

About RAFT® 2022

The biennial Recent Advances in Fermentation Technology (RAFT) conference provides a forum for industrial and academic scientists to discuss the latest developments in fermentation as applied in research and industry.

The conference is one of a series of specialist meetings sponsored by America’s Society for Industrial Microbiology and Biotechnology (SIMB). The first RAFT conference was held in San Diego in 1995 repeated held every second year, with the 2021 conference held online due to the COVID pandemic.

RAFT®14 will be a four-day event opening November 6 at the Caribe Royale resort in Orlando, FLA, where the conference has relocated from nearby Bonita Springs, which suffered severe damage during Hurricane Ian last month.

The conference will feature an exhibition, exhibitor showcases and a full program of presentations including a keynote address from Dr. Michael V. Arbige, Vice President of R&D for DuPont’s BioSciences group.
