MEDELPHARM My STYL’One webinar to focus on bilayer tablets
Beynost, France: – The latest ‘My STYL’One’ webinar hosted by research-based manufacturer and tableting specialists MEDELPHARM will explore advanced formulations and processes for manufacturing bilayer and multilayer tablets.
The MEDELPHARM webinar “Fundamental investigations on bilayer tablets – Effects of process parameters and geometry on interfacial strength” will be hosted online from 1500hrs DST (UTC+1) on June 28, 2022. Registration is free and can be completed online. (see Resources).
Expert presenters
The webinar is designed to meet the needs of users of both STYL’One tableting equipment users and a more general R&D and engineering audience that includes formulation and galenic scientists, oral and solid dosage form specialists, scale-up and tech transfer engineers, technical support staff, pure researchers and regulators.
Main presenter for the session will be Dr. Jan Henrik Finke, a specialist in pharmaceutical engineering, who currently heads the Division for Pharma and Bioparticle Technology at the Institute for Particle Technology iPAT, TU Braunschweig. Dr. Finke is also a Senior Scientist at the Fraunhofer Institute for Surface Engineering and Thin Films IST and over the past year has held an interim professorship in Pharmaceutical Technology at the FSU Jena.
The session will be co-hosted by Bruno Leclercq, Head of MEDELPHARM Science Lab and Business Development Manager.
Multilayer challenges
Together, they will cover the fundamental challenges in developing multilayer tablets, including determining optimal process parameters for multilayer tablets, ensuring layer adhesion, and using a compaction simulator to develop a multilayer formulation rapidly and using only a few grams of material.
The session will cover technical aspects such as:
- Measurement of interfacial adhesion strength
- Influence of material deformation behaviour
- Impact of process parameters and tablet geometry
- Detection of signs of internal stresses before delamination
Online demonstration
The session will include an online demonstration of multilayer tablet formulation using a STYL’One Evo compaction simulator and will include case studies of multilayer tablet formulation collated by MEDELPHARM Science Lab.
The webinar will conclude with a Q&A session for which My STYL’One subscribers will be able to table queries in advance (see Resources).
