Medelpharm launches STYL’One Nano in USA

Washington, D.C.: – French-based powder compaction specialists Medelpharm will use the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists AAPS PharmSci 360 annual meeting to provide a worldwide debut for the latest addition to its highly-respected STYL’One range of research-based tableting instruments.

The STYL’One Nano is a benchtop-sized tablet press designed for formulation and research, with a compact and mobile form that is ideal for laboratory use.

Full control over compression profile

The STYL’One Nano features force and position control, independent fill height and compression thickness adjustment, along with extended dwell times, allowing product developers to the reach the ideal compression profile for new tablets.

The new machine complies with the USP General Chapter 1062 (USP 1062) guidelines for the characterization of tablet compression.

Smart and No Limits

The STYL’One Nano is available in two versions:

• Smart Configuration is configured for development teams using a more cost-conscious and pragmatic approach, with force instrumentation and an interface allowing raw data export into MS Excel for manipulation. For production of small batches, pre-/main compression profile similar to small rotary presses allows production of up to 1800 tablets per hour while creating reports on the maximum, minimum and average forces achieved during the batch. This mode is controlled in displacement like on a rotary press. For early research and API characterization the sawtooth profile with force control provides information on ejection force, powder behavior and volume reduction. An external lubrication option facilitates production with difficult powders.
• No Limit Configuration is a fully instrumented R&D solution with a full software package for data analysis. In addition to the Smart version features, the No Limit configuration provides relevant information for powder and formula characterization, force and displacement measurement in time, transmitted forces and ejection. This version provides a choice of profiles (sawtooth, square, main compression, pre-/main compression) all controlled in force or displacement mode.

Both versions can be installed on fixed benchtop, rolling trolley or standing base to suit different laboratory configurations.

Global launch

The global launch for STYL’One is hosted on the Medelpharm stand at the AAPS PharmSci 360 meeting at the Walter E. Washington Convention Centre, led by Medelpharm’s President, Bruno Villa, and Technical Director Thomas Vermeulin, who led the design of the new instrument.

New pharmaceutical science event

The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists AAPS PharmSci 360 annual meeting is a four-day event opening November 4, expected to attract some 7,000 delegates from around the globe, along with more than 200 exhibitors.

It features five scientific tracks covering all aspects of the pharmaceutical sciences. Medelpharm will also contribute a symposium on ‘Powder Compaction: Achieving Robustness with new generation of tableting instruments’.
