Eurotherm® nanodac™ Recorder / Controller
The Eurotherm® nanodac™ combined recorder and controller provides an excellent blend of flexibility, precision and user-friendliness for life science applications.
It offers full data logging, recording, and validation capabilities with electronic signatures to achieve full compliance with Title 21 of the United States Food and Drug Administration (CFR Part 11) regulations on electronic records and electronic signatures.
nanodac™ features
This compact ¼ DIN panel mount unit offers the ultimate in graphical recording for a box of its size, combining very accurate four-way PID control with setpoint programs to support demanding applications like heat treatment. All functions including data recording are accessed via a full color, ¼ VGA display (3.5”) to bring an intuitive and crystal-clear operator interface to very compact installations and devices.
Optional twin independent PID control loops utilize the advanced Eurotherm PID algorithm that offers one of the best autotune facilities available along with overshoot inhibition (cutbacks) and feedforward compensation for power fluctuations. A further option is a Dual Programmer supporting up to 100 programs locally, each program supporting 25 segments. The nanodac™ also provides remote access to a further 100 programs via FTP or USB memory stick.
Other nanodac™ features include triple isolated DC Outputs (DDD) and easy washdown fascia, which is IP66 rated to support CIP/SIP environments.
Precision analogue batch recording
The Eurotherm nanodac™ recorder/controller offers four channels of precision analogue batch recording, easily meeting the FDA 21 CFR 11 requirements for accuracy and repeatability, and data logging, also allowing alarm and discrete input logging, communications with other devices, results available in the data record, electronic signatures and batch data recording. Data acquisition and recording is secured using the Eurotherm-developed .UHH file format.
Connectivity
The nanodac™ can be equipped with Ethernet/IP Client or Server mode to allow easy integration with an existing instrument network, acting as a local data historian. When enabled, Ethernet/IP allows the nanodacÔ to act in Client or Server mode to provide data recording for up to 30 process parameters (via virtual channels). Ethernet/IP provides two user pages, the first is an overview of all the process parameter data points being addressed via the communications. The second is a diagnostics page that can be used during initial setup and commissioning and to test Client/Server connection.
Full color display
The 3.5” TFT display offers crystal clear visualization of process parameters with a wide selection of configurable views including numeric, horizontal and vertical trends; horizontal and vertical bar graphs; alarm settings, and control loops. The unit also provides user configuration from front panel without need to connect to a PC.
Data Acquisition and Recording
The nanodac™ recording functionality utilizes the secure strategies and UHH format developed by Eurotherm through years of recording expertise. As well as multiple real-time views and historical review on the product, multiple data archiving strategies are provided utilising the 50MB onboard Flash memory, removable USB and data transfer via FTP to a specified server.
The four universal input channels provide high accuracy (suitable for use in Nadcap applications) and 125ms parallel sampling. An additional 30 virtual channels can be utilized to provide maths, counter, slave communications and totalizer functionality within the instrument.
Eurotherm Data Reviewer is the ideal choice for the viewing, analysis and printing of historical data files acquired from the nanodac™.
PID Control Loops
Optionally, the nanodac™ instrument can provide two independent control loops that harness Eurotherm’s advanced PID algorithm to bring high performance and reliability to the process. Functionality includes one of the best autotune facilities available along with overshoot inhibition (cutbacks); compensation for power fluctuations using power feedforward; linear, fan, oil and water cooling.
Life science applications
The nanodac™ is particularly suitable for fitment to pharma, biotech, and medical equipment where compactness, precision, and easy operation are key considerations. Its Dual Loop capability makes it ideal for controlling interactive processes such as those found in environmental chambers, autoclaves and fermenters that require control and often setpoint programming of two variables. The advanced maths and logic functions within the nanodac™ can be used to create intelligent control strategies to compensate for interactive effects between variables and maintain them at setpoint.
Eurotherm has also worked with sterilizer manufacturers to develop a solution for the nanodac’s Independent Monitoring System (IMS) optimized for Sterilization Application with cycle-based data logging and monitoring, and display showing instantaneous information on the status of the Sterilization cycle. The Sterilizer Application can support up to four process variables, including Chamber Temperature, Chamber Pressure and Air Detector, and is therefore suitable for use with Porous Load, Dry Heat, Flash, and LTS Sterilizers.
Other life science applications include crystal growing, atmospheric control, Composite materials processing, climatic chambers, annealer dryers, ovens, pasteurizers, incubators, and disinfection processes.
