Erdmann Design toothbrush solution wins German Design Award for Curaprox

Brugg, Switzerland:- Leading-edge design and engineering agency Erdmann Design has steered client Curaprox to a 2021 German Design Award for its innovative Hydrosonic Pro toothbrush.

Hydrosonic Pro won Excellent Product Design award in the Medical Rehabilitation and Health Care category thanks to its superb aesthetics, and user-friendly design.

Superior dental care

The electric toothbrush features a drop-shaped brush head design with subtly cranked neck that allows it to reach difficult places in the mouth.

The brush head is equipped with fine filaments, which support the hydrodynamic effect and avoid damage to implants, sensitive gums or causing gum recession.

“The special design of the brush head simplifies dental care even in the case of complicated tooth positions or the presence of braces,” the expert jury commented in its commendation.

Applied Human Centered Design

“Aesthetic quality and genuine usability should bring joy to everyday artifacts, “commented Erdmann Design founder and CEO, Raimund Erdmann.

“The Erdmann Design Team is proud of our successful collaboration with Curaprox leading to this award of the prestigious German Design Award,” said Mr. Erdmann.

“This is an example of Human Centered Design (HCD) based on deep research applied to a life science development task, namely enabling and motivating prophylactic action to improve individual Health outcomes, assisted by superior interface, ergonomics and aesthetics,” The CEO of Curaprox, Ueli Breitschmid explained.

“The plain truth is that simple and easy to understand devices are more pleasing to the user and therefore more used in everyday life for regular body care and hygiene. That’s a particularly important lesson to bear in mind in these days of COVID-19 when routine hygiene has literally become a matter of life and death,” Raimund Erdmann declared.

Erdmann Design are specialists in applying HCD concepts to healthcare technology and medical devices and are currently working on concepts related to filtering aerosol droplets from the air in workplaces and active ventilation that are also highly relevant in the coronavirus pandemic.
