Dec Group emphasizes support for advanced biotech production
Ecublens, Switzerland: – Powder handling and high containment specialist Dec Group has highlighted its increasing support for highly automated manufacturing of biologic pharma products.
A recent posting on social media showcases some of Dec’s most advanced aseptic fill and finish solutions.
Containment and aseptic solutions
In the post, Dec Group Managing Director Frederic Dietrich comments:
“The development of biologic drugs and their biosimilars represents a rapidly expanding field, fueled by remarkable advancements in biotechnology. At Dec Group, we take pride in our contribution to this evolution through our containment system and aseptic filling solutions, engineered for the safe handling and filling of sensitive ingredients.”
Mr. Dietrich says by merging scientific innovation with state-of-the-art technology that adheres to aseptic manufacturing regulatory standards, the pharmaceutical industry can provide high-quality products that drive the continuous advancement of therapeutics, all aimed at improving patient outcomes.
The accompanying video highlights several key Dec technologies relevant to biologics production.
Microdosing
Among standard solutions, these include a number of technologies for precision microdosing of powders, and BoMa® based filling lines for aseptic pump-free filling of liquids into vials, syringes, etc.
Innovative Dec solutions now cover the whole “liquid to solid” spectrum. It has overcome the inherent limitations of gravimetric dosing when measuring small product amounts by developing accurate volumetric dosing systems that can accurately dispense any kind of powder, including crystalline and lyophilized ones, as well as liquids without the need for a scale, thus allowing operation in unstable environments and filling processes in parallel.
Advanced Technologies
These dosing systems can be combined with Restricted Access Barrier Systems (RABS) and isolators to provide total containment under strictly controlled conditions.
The video also shows this advanced aseptic filling line driven by Dec’s NextGen Linear Magnetic Transport System using individually programmed magnetically driven shuttle ‘carts’ to move product rapidly but under very precise control along independently programmed paths for seamless, vibration-free operation. This new technology also enhances the ability of DecFill® aseptic filling lines to handle multiple container types.
This level of flexibility allows pharmaceutical manufacturers to optimize production on a single and compact filling line that can accommodate a wide range of containers.
