CurTec provides a wide range of polyethylene and polypropylene drum and jar primary packaging solutions for the fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals industries. These are robust and reliable, designed for safety and tamper resistance.

CurTec International has long specialized in the manufacture and delivery of robust high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or polypropylene (PP) containers, with special attention paid to the need for the holding and handling of hazardous and sensitive products, especially in the fine chemicals and pharma fields.

CurTec HDPE drums and jars meet the most stringent packaging requirements and present excellent nesting and stacking capabilities, plus the recyclability that satisfies sustainability and ecological concerns.

HDPE robustness

HDPE is known for its impressive strength-to-density ratio. CurTec containers are constructed from HDPE with density around 0.95 grams per cubic centimeter. Although this seems only marginally higher than low-density polyethylene (LDPE), HDPE’s molecular structure has little branching, giving it far stronger intermolecular forces and tensile strength than LDPE.

This difference in strength considerably exceeds the difference in density, giving HDPE a higher specific strength. It is also tougher allowing containers to be stacked or knocked with little fear of damage. The material can withstand temperatures of up to 70°C indefinitely. These characteristics allow CurTec HDPE containers to qualify as type 1H2 under the UN-X classification system for containing and carrying hazardous materials.

PP impact resistance

CurTec Click Packx and Duo Pack containers are constructed from PP, which has superior fatigue resistance. PP is also highly resistant to corrosion and chemical leaching and is resilient against impact, freezing and physical damage.

Sustainability and recycling

HDPE is a plastic that is relatively easy to recycle (code 2), being capable of down cycling into new products, such as garden and roadside furniture, benches, cargo bed liners, waste containers, stationery and other durable plastic products.

As a result HDPE is in constant demand among recycling agents and is the most commonly recycled plastic material.

PP is a total recyclable material, with resin ID code 5.

Robust structural design

CurTec’s container designs also enhance robustness and reliability, with neck, flange and lid form factors that enhance strength and tight sealing closures. For example, the reinforcing ‘hoops’ found on the bodies of wide deck and total opening drums enhance rigidity and crush protection, while the lids and screw tops form part of the total structural design, adding further strength and rigidity.
