Lindau, Germany: -Laboratory engineering specialist DORNIER–LTF will exhibit at Germany’s prestige Joint Congress of the Association for General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM) and the Society of Hygiene and Microbiology (DGHM).

The Microbiology & Infection 2014 event will be staged at Dresden’s International Congress Center from October 5 to October 7.

The joint Labortechnik (LTF) and DLTF stand will include demonstrations of the latest version of DORNIER’s highly innovative PIRO® personal pipetting robot that integrates high throughput benefits within a compact and easy to handle device.

DORNIER-LTF recently redesigned PIRO to incorporate a large capacity ‘intelligent’ tip. The addition of the new 1ml pipetting option, alongside the existing 200µl heads, significantly extends PIR’s reach beyond polymerase chain reaction (PCR) into new applications that include general liquid handling, primary tube handling and chemistry.

All in one solution

The exhibition team will be able to demonstrate how PIRO tips can be swapped in a few seconds.

The new generation PIRO® also features new functions, such as optimized sequences for enhanced results, ‘intelligent pipetting’ from database and ‘through matrix import’.

The exhibition team at Dresden will include Dr. Rudolf Walser, DORNIER-LTF Director of Applications and Sales, who believes PIRO will attract significant interest there.

“This is an event that appeals to many academic and commercial laboratories of all types and sizes, but with particular emphasis on qPCR and molecular biology,” Dr. Walser noted.

With so many research scientists present, we anticipate considerable demand for a truly versatile and affordable ‘all in one’ laboratory automated pipetting solution of the type that PIRO can offer,” said Dr. Walser.

DORNIER-LTF was formed from the partnership of high-tech engineering company DORNIER with laboratory specialist LTF, to bring together state-of-the-art German engineering with applied scientific research experience.

The company specializes in creating reliable and easy to use precision pipetting devices that are essential research and diagnostic laboratory work. DORNIER-LTF has developed affordable high precision liquid handling robotic technologies, in particular the newly developed PIRO® pipetting robot that integrates high throughput benefits within a compact and easy to handle device.

About DGHM/VAAM 2014

The Microbiology & Infection Conference is an annual event shared by Germany’s Society of Hygiene and Microbiology (DGHM) and Association for General and Applied Microbiology (VAAM).

The fourth Congress will take place between October 5 and October 7. For the first time the event will be held at the International Congress Center beside the River Elbe in the historic Baroque city of Dresden, reflecting Saxony’s continued rise as an important center of excellence in the life sciences.

The 2014 conference will focus on the current state of modern and broad microbiological research and applications in Germany, with leading national and international scientists presenting latest insights and advances.

The scientific program will bring together experts across the range of life sciences, including environmental and technical microbiology, medical sciences and diagnostics. Several concurrent poster and workshop sessions will be run alongside plenary sessions, providing platforms for young and specialist scientists to highlight their findings.

An accompanying exhibition will feature more than 70 companies and organizations.

The conference is sponsored by the DFG (German Research Foundation), ESCMID (European Society of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases) and FEMS (Federation of European Microbiological Societies) and is organized by Conventus Congress Management & Marketing GmbH.
