Pipeline Biotech offers studies in experimental xenograft models for efficacy testing of new drug candidates. These studies are based on immune deficient mice (nude, SCID, NOD/SCID, XID, NOG) with transplanted human malignant tumors, recognized as amongst the most validated oncological models for development and selection of potential anticancer agents.

These valuable tools in the preclinical evaluation of new anticancer drugs allow reliable testing of chemical compounds as well as proteins, peptides, monoclonal antibodies and other biological products.

Validated Standard Tumor Models

Pipeline Biotech has a range of validated tumor models available for drug screening and efficacy studies, using cell lines selected to represent human cancers with high incidence.

The cell cultures are expanded to have cells for inoculation subcutaneous in immune-deficient mice. Individual tumor growth is followed by frequent measurements of tumor volume. Models available may vary somewhat according to general demands and include:

Cancer model Cell Lines
Breast MCF-7, MDA-MB-453
Colorectal COLO205
Glioblastoma U87
Head & Neck HN-5
Hepatic HEPG2
Lymphatic DOHH-2, HL-60
Ovarian SKOV-3
Prostate LNCap, C4-2, PC3

Xenografted cell lines with specific targets

The Pipeline Biotech tumor panel can be extended to cover cell lines of special interest to the client. This is highly relevant since the “targeted therapies” drug class today covers over half the anticancer agents in the pipeline. This class of drug agents includes humanized monoclonal antibodies directed to cancer oncogenes expressed on the surface of tumor cells. Pipeline Biotech offers specific programs requiring in-life validation of the client’s own targeted cell lines in advance of efficacy testing.
