Watlow offers a wide range of precision temperature sensors including mineral Insulated thermocouple sensors, ultra-precise RTDs resistance temperature detectors, and tube and wire temperature sensor thermocouples for medium-duty processes.

These temperature measurement sensors combine the roles of temperature sensing devices and temperature switches and are based on Watlow’s 90+ years of manufacturing, research and design expertise.

Each product is designed for easy integration with Watlow and Eurotherm’s wide range of temperature sensor electronics, to function as stand-alone temperature sensor controllers or be integrated into a wider monitoring and control network.

Mineral Insulated Thermocouples

Watlow’s range of Mineral Insulated Thermocouples meet the need for fast-responding temperature sensors that are durable and capable of handling high temperatures up to 1200oC.

These devices are manufactured using Watlow’s trademarked best-in-class XACTPAK® metal sheathed, mineral insulated (MI) thermocouple material. XACTPAK protective metal outer sheath allows use of smaller diameter temperature sensors, increasing speed of response. The rock hard compacted MgO insulation further enhances the sensor’s ability to “read” temperature by transferring heat quickly to the measuring junction.

The range includes a wide choice of styles variously terminated with standard or mini connectors, single or double fittings, and nipple unions.

RTD sensors

Watlow’s Resistance Temperature Detectors (RTDs) are engineered for precise and repeatable temperature sensing and measurement to accuracies of + 0.06% at 0°C (DIN Class A) or + 0.12% at 0°C (DIN Class B).

These RTD sensors are built to meet the most demanding industrial applications across a wide temperature range of -200°C to 650°C., while providing a lower total cost of ownership for end-users.

The RTD Sensor range offers a wide choice of styles terminated with single or double fittings, nipple unions, or head only.

Tube and Wire Thermocouples

Companies engaged in critical process control rely on Watlow thermocouple sensors, with an extensive range of tube and wire designs to meet a broad range of sensing needs and critical process control applications for many industries.

Watlow tube and wire temperature sensor thermocouples feature flexible SERV-RITE® wire insulated with woven fiberglass or high temperature engineered resins for operating ranges up to 480oC.

For added physical protection, products can be provided with stainless steel wire braid and flexible armor.

ASTM E230 color-coding identifies standard catalog thermocouple types. The addition of a metal sheath over the thermocouple sensor provides rigidity for accurate placement and added protection of the sensing junction. Mounting options include springs, ring terminals, specialized bolts, pipe style clamps and shims.
