SYSTAG shows routes to rapid product development at InformEx 2016

    January 12th 2016

Rüschlikon, Zürich: – Fine chemicals and pharmaceutical process automation specialist System Technik AG (SYSTAG) will use its third appearance at the forthcoming InformEx 2016 event in New Orleans to demonstrate the power of its Automated Lab Reactor, RADEX and Parallel Pressure Reactor (PPR) systems to transform laboratory and production reaction process efficiencies.

SYSTAG’s displays at Booth 819 at the Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, will include real time live demonstrations of systems in action, including FlexyCUBE, FlexyPAT, RADEX and the recently developed Parallel Pressure Reactor (PPR).

PPR was co-developed with fellow Swiss-based specialists BüchiGlasUster, maker of stirred laboratory autoclave High Pressure Reactor Systems and Dottikon Exclusive Synthesis, specialist in hazardous and toxic fine chemicals.

    Scale up transformation

The three companies will share the stand allowing them to offer a collective demonstration of the power of “Swiss Scale-Up Competence” to transform operations from pilot to full production.

SYSTAG’s innovative systems like FlexyCUBE and FlexyPAT controlled lab reactors and FlexyPlant plant control systems are designed to provide easy scale up in F&E for chemical engineering process optimization and thermal process safety. This range of tools and equipment are also designed to make laboratory processes more reliable, more economical and safer.

    Overcoming process development barriers

SYSTAG’s team at InformEx will be led by General Sales Manager Marcel Haugg and CEO Mike Mandlehr, who will deliver a presentation during the Tuesday Showcase on the first morning of the conference, (10 am, Room 278) focusing on ‘Optimizing development resources for efficient product development’.

His address will demonstrate how efficient process R&D have become crucial for modern contract and API manufacturers, with the need to push through new products/processes to market readiness ever faster, with full safety testing, overcoming barriers of scarce development resources and pressures of routine administration and regulatory requirement to keep detailed records.

“This in turn means that new processes often get as far as scale-up with no detailed examination,” said Mr. Mandlehr.

“Quality by design and other necessities fall by the wayside, frequently leading to unexpected problems in production, with consequent expensive downtime and scale-down measures required,” he noted.

“I will be able to show how much of this can be avoided if systematic laboratory automation is available even in the very earliest stages of development,” said Mandlehr.

” On the one hand time-consuming routine work such as dosing, tempering and similar control tasks can be left to an automated laboratory reactor while on the other, thanks to comprehensive data capture and visualization, complex interrelationships can be spotted even at a very early stage of development. Limited human resources can then be used for more important work,” he concluded.

    Laboratory decision makers

Marcel Haugg noted: “We have attended InformEx in 2014 and 2015 and have been consistently impressed with the event’s scale and reach among our core customer base of bench scientists, chief scientific officers (CSOs), R&D heads, laboratory managers and senior scientists, all preoccupied with the need to make their laboratories and plants run to peak efficiency.”
“We will be able to show how together we have more than 200 years combined experience in producing equipment, design of reactors and producing fine chemicals and APIs,“ said Mr. Mandlehr.
