Rotronic RMS-based alarms

Measuring and monitoring specialist Rotronic has embedded protocols in its Rotronic Monitoring System (RMS) software that allow users to set up their own ‘customized’ alarms and report to ensure no important information is missed.

The alarms functionality allows the user to generate e-mails, SMS text messages and telephone calls in case of alarms.

It also can be programmed to send out daily, weekly or monthly PDF documents to keep compliance records up to date.

The system can also be programmed to set reminders for calibration of measurement devices, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Four levels

Four levels of alarming are available, with activation based on defined risk.

Non-urgent events: Including device low battery, simulator connected (measuring point), calibration reminder and data gap after downloading missing measured values
Warning for measured values that are out of limit: Non-critical measuring point exceeded
Alarming for measured values that are out of limit: Critical measuring point exceeded
Urgent hardware errors: including device timeout, and sensor error at measuring point

An overview of the alarms can be seen once the user has logged into the system. Each user only sees the alarms relevant to granted access rights.

Audit trail

An audit trail clearly shows all alarms and warnings, including unique event ID, time and date, particular information about the triggering condition and target measuring point or device. The audit trail also indicates response to each event.

With a few clicks, it is possible to set up alarms based on either the measuring point or via an alarm scheme in which user can set a condition such as an active time as well as a warning.

The various alarms can be notified in different ways and can be sent to just one or multiple users via e-Mai, SMS, phone call, switch relay or data over IP/TCP.
