Pharmatrans SSG and PVP-P disintegrants

Pharmatrans SANAQ® offers SSG sodium starch glycolate and PVP-P crospovidone as super disintegrants that can radically accelerate oral solid dose (OSD) dissolution and drug delivery.

These super disintegrants are particularly useful in tablet, capsule and granule formulations.

SSG SANAQ®

Sodium Starch Glycolate (SSG), the sodium starch glycolate of potato starch, is a chemically modified (sodium hydroxide and chloride acid) derivative of starch that can be used as a hydrophobic lubricant in tablet formulations to reduce disintegration time and accelerate delivery of API.

SSG SANAQ® is a Type A Sodium Starch Glycolate starch derivative, with chemical and physical identities meeting the latest standards defined by pharmacopeias Ph. Eur., USP-NF, and BP. It can be used as disintegrant for tablets direct tableting and wet granulation, as well as for, capsules and granules.

SSG SANAQ® is recommended in a concentration of 2-8% of the total weight.

SSG Characteristics

The effects of SSG SANAQ® as a disintegrating agent are caused by the rapid absorption of water and the enormous swelling properties of the SSG SANAQ® particles. Non-dissolvable in water, the swollen SSG SANAQ® particles remain intact, avoiding formation of viscous film, to consequently cause the rapid disruption of the tablet into its original components. Hence, SSG SANAQ® improves the release and the absorption of the active ingredient.

SSG SANAQ® is highly stable with its disintegration enhancement effect remaining potent even after prolonged storage.

SSG SANAQ® can also be used as a hydrophobic film covering the tablet ingredient particles. In this case, SSG SANAQ® guarantees a rapid absorption of water and due to the excellent swelling property a fast and complete disintegration of the tablet.

PVP-P SANAQ®

PVP-P SANAQ® is a crospovidone-class super disintegrant, this is comprised of cross-linked Polyvinylpyrrolidone that can be used as a disintegrant in tablets and hard gelatin capsules.

PVP-P SANAQ® can also be applied as a stabilizer for oral and topical suspensions, as a way to improve dissolution and bioavailability, and as a filtration aid.
