Phage Consultants to warn ISBioTech of ‘crouching and hidden’ bacteriophage dangers
Gdansk, Poland: – Bacteriophage technology specialist contract research organization Phage Consultants will use the upcoming online ISBioTech Waterside conference to warn the bioprocess community of the dangers of ‘camouflaged’ phage contaminations in processes.
Phage Consultants founder and CEO Dr. Marcin Los is once again an invited speaker at the virtual event, delivering an online address Crouching T1, Hidden DE3 – how lysogeny, pseudolysogeny and hibernation may camouflage phages in the process.
Hidden contamination threats
Starting at 1320 EST on Tuesday November 17 as part of the conference’s Contaminant Control stream, the presentation will warn fermentation teams and production facility managers of the ability of bacteriophages to become hidden in bioprocesses through the processes of lysogeny, pseudolysogeny and hibernation, leading to unexpected and expensive contaminations.
Dr. Los will outline a range of techniques that can be used to recognize such camouflaged contaminations, prevent them and deal with them if they occur.
Reduced DE3 background Cell Bank Testing
PC will also use the event’s networking platforms to present its broader contamination control services and its unique offer of Cell Bank Testing with DE3-related background reduction. This uses newly-developed technology and carefully designed protocols to overcome one of the major problems in cell bank testing: the presence of the DE3 prophage causing false positive results in phage and prophage testing.
