Exploring translational opportunities at Microbiome R&D Forum in USA
Gdansk, Poland: – Specialist bacteriophage CRO Phage Consultants (PC) will be an important presence at the upcoming Microbiome R&D and Business Collaboration Forum in California, focusing on opportunities to translate increased knowledge about the important role of phages in microbiology into therapeutic advances.
PC will be represented at the San Diego Forum by its CEO and founder, Dr. Macin Łoś, who is a world-acknowledged expert in the study of bacteriophages and their important role in the microbiome.
Expert engagement
“This Forum will provide is with an ideal platform to highlight our services in phage and prophage testing of microbiome strains and cell banks. Participating in this event, puts us in touch with important players from the USA and Canada, as well as some from Europe and Asia. For us, the US market features the highest level of maturity of microbiome technologies and market opportunities.”, commented Dr. Łoś.
“We look forward to engaging with this expert community and we have long deployed out specialist services on behalf of leading players in the microbiome field, such as Luina Bio, Aldevron and many others” he noted.
Unique testing service
“Now we are able to talk about a unique service for the testing of bacterial cell banks composed of anaerobic bacteria, intended for pharmaceutical production as microbiomic pharmaceuticals, for the presence of bacteriophages and prophages present in the strain,” Dr. Łoś explained.
“PC has for many years been working with prominent companies engaged in the field of microbiome research. Our newly expanded service portfolio recognizes increased interest in probiotics and bacterial therapies, for example in the human gut or developing natural alternatives to antibiotics,” Dr. Łoś added.
Phage Consultants will appear at the Forum in association with the Pomerania Development Agency, with funding from Pomorski Broker Eksportowy 2030.
About Phage Consultants
Phage Consultants is a contract research and manufacturing organization that specializes in bacteriophage detection, characterization and production, but also prevention and eradication from laboratories and production facilities.
Bacteriophages (phages) are viruses that infect bacteria. First discovered around 1915, phages are the most numerous organisms in the biosphere and played an important role in understanding fundamental molecular biology for example horizontal gene transfer. Bacteriophages have different possible life cycles – lytic and lysogenic cycles – along with physical environment. In biotechnology, their activity can be devastating when bacterial cultures get infected. They can cause long-lasting recurrent infections which prevent successful production and in the past some facilities have been forced to close down due to their activities.
Founded in Gdansk, Poland, in 2007, PC has become a world leader in using the power of bacteriophage technology in bioprocess infection and contamination control and assisting companies whose production is based on microbial activities in preventing bacteriophage contamination.
Phage Consultants is also a team specialist in the field of bacteriophage biology with specific expertise in phage activity in bioprocesses. The team provides unique assistance to pharmaceutical and biotech companies, offering a range of services from personal training to consulting and process optimization in phage growth limitation. The company also advises and assists clients in the development of new production facilities.

About Microbiome R&D Forum 2026
The annual Microbiome R&D and Business Collaboration Forum focuses on how microbial ecosystems shape the biological clock.
The 2026 Conference is a two-day event, opening October 1 on the campus of the University of San Diego in California. It will feature some 40 speakers with twin conference track dedicated to translational science and business development.
Under its keynote theme of “Precision Microbiome Medicine: Translating Microbiome Technologies into the Clinic, and the Potential for Using the Microbiome to Expand the Health Span” the Forum will focus on effective translation of microbiome science into clinically actionable interventions, harnessing advances in multi-omics, AI-driven analytics, microbial therapeutics, and personalized nutrition.
The Forum is organised by events specialist GlobalEngage, with further information at: https://global-engage.com/conferences/microbiome-2026
