Phage Consultants returns to CPhI Worldwide

Gdansk, Poland: – Specialist bacteriophage CRO Phage Consultants (PC) will return as an exhibitor at the huge upcoming CPhI Worldwide pharma fair in Madrid, showcasing its contracting and consulting services.Phage Consultants made its CPhI debut in Frankfurt last autumn and found high interest in its a wide portfolio of specialist services, including deep expertise in keeping bacterial fermentations free from bacteriophage contamination that are highly relevant in biotech. Bacteriophages as biosensors

For 2018, Phage Consultants will focus on its contamination control services and phage-based medicines development services, showing fermentation managers and other biotech professionals the necessity to keep their processes free of phages.

The team will also have details of advanced applications of phages in drug and medicine discovery that now include emerging techniques for using the viral characteristics of bacteriophages to eliminate bacteria, but also to recognize and bind specific bacterial receptors, enabling construction of stand-alone drugs, but also biosensors to recognize specific targets, formed by creating immobilized covalent bonds.

These open up promising research avenues for solving the problem of detecting many pathogenic and food borne bacteria, such as typhus or E. coli, in low concentrations that can defeat standard detection methods.
