Phage Consultants establishes MENA presence at DUPHAT 2021

Gdansk, Poland: – Bacteriophage technology specialist Phage Consultants (PC) established its contract research services to the fast growing Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region biopharma industry at the recent  DUPHAT Middle East Pharmaceutical Industry conference in Dubai.

PC exhibited at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) as part of the Pomorskie (Pomeranian) Region of Poland stand showcasing the biopharma cluster centered around the city of Gdansk.

Representing Phage Consultants at DUPHAT 21 were founder and CEO Dr. Marcin Los with Research Scientist and Communications Specialist, Dr. Aleksandra Bebel.

Valuable opportunities

This was one of the first physical expos seen in the West since the start of the COVID-19 emergency in early 2020 and the Phage Consultants team welcomed the opportunity for face to face meetings after so long. The convention was organised with multiple health and safety precautions, including masks and social distancing.

“This was a valuable opportunity to establish new contacts, particularly on the UAE market, and establish our unique presence as a bacteriophage specialist more widely across the MENA region,” said Dr. Los.

Contamination services

“There was particular interest among visitors in our consulting services concerning phage contaminations in biotech processes that utilize bacterial fermentations. Phage contamination is a major problem for drug manufacturing companies, and therefore poses a threat for timely distribution, which is the main priority for MENA clients,” Dr. Los commented.

The Phage Consultants team also presented details of their new phage detection service to combat problems caused by the presence of the DE3 prophage.

Global operations

“Despite the fact that we mostly work with manufacturers, it is always useful to get in touch with the distributors as well since their production departments elsewhere might need our services. It’s important to make sure people are aware of our presence and our ability to operate globally and assist departments in any geographical location,” said Dr. Bebel.

“It was great to be back out there, with a chance to present our company in a non-virtual setting. The health safety rules set were followed by all participants so we all felt safe attending,” she added.

“We would like to thank the Pomorskie region for the supreme organization of the attendance at the Duphat convention for us and other local companies. Overall, the meeting was a great success and we are looking forward to future events in the MENA region” Marcin Los concluded.
