Gdansk, Poland: – Specialist CRO Phage Consultants will showcase a new custom-made bacteriophage formulation to suppress bacterial contamination in bioprocesses when it returns to the prestige BIO World Congress in San Diego, California, next month.

This is the ninth year that the Polish-based bacteriophage and bioreactor contamination specialist has attended this high profile biotechnology and bio-chemicals event.

Phage Consultants will be one of the 60 exhibitors at the event, setting up stand at Booth 618 at the SDCC Convention Center in San Diego.

“Once again, we will be bringing new and relevant insights and innovations in the fields of phage detection, contamination, control and prevention to this important BIO International conference,” said Phage Consultants CEO and founder, Dr. Marcin Los.

    Contamination troubleshooting

Dr. Los will also be available to explain more about Phage Consultants’ bacteriophage contamination and microbial detection tools and its troubleshooting and prevention capabilities at one-top-one sessions using the congress’s ONE-on-ONE™ Partnering facility.

“In particular, we will be reaching out to fermentation managers and biological production teams from biotech companies and biopharmaceutical divisions of pharma companies using bioreactors, showing how they can use the power of bacteriophages to defeat dangerous bacterial contaminations of sensitive biological processes,” he said.

“For example we have been able to refine our solution that can be applied to decontaminate any industrial bioprocess and isolate it from bacterial threats. The precise bacteriophage mix can be customized to any particular application,” Dr. Los added.

    About Phage Consultants

Bacteriophages (phages) are viruses that infect bacteria. First discovered around 1915, phages play an important role in viral biology, used to elucidate DNA viral reproduction through lytic and lysogenic cycles. They have been used for almost a century as alternatives to antibiotics and can have therapeutic effect against multi-drug-resistant strains of many bacteria.

Based in Poland, Phage Consultants is a contract research and manufacturing organization that specializes in bacteriophage detection and characterization and production. Phage has become a world leader in using the power of bacteriophage technology in bioprocess infection and contamination control and assisting companies whose production is based on microbial activities in preventing phage, bacterial, fungal and viral contaminations.

Phage Consultants are specialists in the field of bacteriophage biology with specific expertise on phage activity in bioprocessing. Its team provides unique assistance to pharmaceutical and biotech companies, offering a range of services from personal training to consulting and process optimization in phage growth limitation. The company also advises and assists clients in the development of new production facilities.
