Erdmann Design bring human-centered design insights to Swiss MPP conference
Brugg, Switzerland:- Leading-edge design and engineering agency Erdmann Design will once again be a prominent contributor to the 2020 Swiss Medtech & Pharma Platform (MPP) annual conference, this year being hosted as a virtual event.
Erdmann Design founder and CEO, Raimund Erdmann was selected by the MPP jury to contribute a presentation on Human Centered Design (HCD) to the conference, which this year is examining various aspects of achieving patient-centricity and balancing stakeholder interests under the EU’s new medical device regulations (MDR).
Market focused approach
Erdmann has maintained a close relationship with MPP over the years as a leading force in helping medical device innovators develop their products to market through market-focused design processes and consultancy.
Mr. Erdmann’s HCD lecture is scheduled for 1100 hours during the morning of Day Two (October 23) as part of Session 5 on ‘Patient/user needs in development of combined products’, being chaired by Dorit Prüfer from Roche. The session will explore how patient safety can best be promoted through new supply chain controls established under MDR and the falsified medicines directive (FMD).
Sustainable packaging
Raimund Erdmann’s presentation on ‘Human centered design – process design for usability’ will emphasis how Early Stage Prototyping can lead to better patient outcomes as part of a more focused and easier regulatory process. As a case study, he will draw on Erdmann’s engagement with Johnson & Johnson’s design team in exploring more sustainable packaging solutions.
“We have attended the MPP annual conference for many years are contributors and are delighted to be doing so again in these challenged times,” said Raimund Erdmann.
“Even as a virtual event, the conference will bring us face to face with colleagues and partners interested in developing new medical devices and give us the opportunity to show how our particular patient outcome focused design disciplines are particularly relevant to the medical device and pharma sectors,” he added.

About Medtech & Pharma 2020
The annual conference of the Medtech & Pharma Platform (MPP) is dedicated to products and solutions that combine medtech and pharmaceutical components. Since its inauguration in 2014, the annual event has continually grown attracting an increasing number of participants and exhibitors.
MPP’s goal is to bring together key stakeholders from the life sciences sector to foster greater cooperation between medtech and pharma industries. The Annual Conference seeks to achieve this goal through knowledge exchange, a full conference agenda, one-on-one partnering and networking opportunities.
Responding to the COVID-19 emergency, MPP 2020 will be an online ‘virtual conference’ over two days, opening October 22, with an overall theme of ‘Achieving patient-centricity under the new MDR – balancing stakeholder interests’.
The conference will feature prominent speakers from regulatory authorities, medtech and pharma companies, government institutions, research laboratories, consulting firms and patients’ organizations, sharing insights across six sessions. The Virtual Conference Platform will build on MPP’s existing 1-1 partnering tool to allow participation from web browsers and mobile app.
