Envopur® for pioneering German sustainability water recycling project
Rossdorf, Germany: – EnviroChemie will combine two of its advanced Envopur® water treatment technologies for a project in Germany’s northwestern Friesian coastal region to turn wastewater into purified process water that can be used for industrial purposes.
The OOWV Oldenburgischer-Ostfriesischer Wasserverband (Oldenburg and East Friesian Water Board) has commissioned the pioneering project at its Nordenham wastewater treatment plant in Lower Saxony.
Ultrafiltration plus reverse osmosis
EnviroChemie will use a combined solution, comprising Envopur® ultrafiltration and Envopur® reverse osmosis technology, to transform the processed wastewater into hygienic process water.
Construction is scheduled to begin in autumn 2024 for completion by summer 2026, when purified non-potable water from the municipal wastewater treatment plant will be supplied via a 5.5 km long process water pipeline to the chemical company Kronos Titan for use in various applications, including filtration and steam generation.
Pioneering sustainability project
The completed facility is projected to generate 1.1 million cubic metres of process water annually. This water recycling forms a crucial component of Kronos Titan’s sustainability strategy. Moreover, the additional recycled water supply will alleviate capacity pressures on the OOWV water treatment plant in nearby Grossenkneten.
EnviroChemie Head of Sales Klaus Dickhoff commented: “We are proud to be making a key contribution to this pioneering sustainability project.”
“This is further proof of how cutting-edge technologies empower us to use resources responsibly and make a positive contribution towards protecting the environment,” Mr. Dickhoff added.
