CRYOPDP Temperature Controlled Packaging
Adequate packaging, including leading-edge materials, cooling technologies, and monitoring tools, forms a core element that enables life sciences industries to face complex temperature-controlled logistic challenges.
The central challenge is to ensure accurate and reliable temperature control and monitoring throughout the transport chain from manufacture to final delivery. More stringent regulation, including Good Distribution Practice (GDP) guidelines, means this control must be backed by effective monitoring and a validated data trail.
The challenges are both global and local. In increasingly international markets, temperature-sensitive goods may spend many hours or days in transit through widely divergent climatic conditions and are subject to unpredictable delays. Locally, at the challenging ‘last mile’ stage, temperature control has to be maintained as the consignment becomes broken down into ever smaller parcels.
To meet these challenges, temperature-controlled packaging has become ever more sophisticated in its design, construction, and features to ensure the maintenance of the cold chain and mitigate risks of temperature excursions and product spoilage.
At the same time, packaging solutions must still offer the customer cost-effectiveness and ease of preparation and handling.
These challenges have become even more pressing with the widespread adoption of biological and genetic-based therapies and vaccines that are particularly temperature-sensitive.
Meeting the challenges
CRYOPDP offers a portfolio of temperature-controlled packaging (TCP) solutions specifically tailored to the life sciences industry. These solutions enable safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of high-value, health-critical, and temperature-sensitive consignments, focusing on biological samples, pharmaceuticals, clinical research, and medical devices.
CRYOPDP packaging services play vital roles in preserving the integrity of temperature-sensitive life sciences products, including pharmaceuticals, biologics, and healthcare materials, and maintaining quality during transit.
CRYOPDP expertise also supports life sciences customers in ensuring regulatory compliance in meeting stringent GDP and other regulations for the packaging and handling of temperature-sensitive items.
These services help customers mitigate risks of product spoilage or loss due to temperature deviations and preserve the security of high-value drugs and other items.
CRYOPDP has become a leading force in driving innovation in the pharma supply chain by offering cutting-edge packaging solutions to meet evolving industry needs.

CRYOPDP TCP Services
CRYOPDP’s key temperature-controlled logistics packaging offerings include cooling source packages covering the whole temperature spectrum from cryogenic -196°C ultra-low temperature-controlled packaging (TCP) up to controlled ambient (+25oC) to meet the specifications of biological samples and goods with a full range of high standard, qualified, single-use or reusable TCP products.
CRYOPDP’s range of TCP packaging solutions spans the range of life science and healthcare needs. They include:
- Passive solutions: Deep frozen, frozen, refrigerated and controlled-ambient transport of biological samples and pharmaceuticals, maintaining physical security and temperature autonomy in shipping from -78ºC to +25ºC over extended periods with insulated boxes specifically designed to accommodate biological samples and pharmaceuticals that incorporate high-performance insulators such as graphite, expanded polystyrene, polyurethane, hybrid or vacuum-insulated panels) and coolant media, including water/gel packs, dry ice or phase change materials (PCMs).
- Active solutions: For longer-range strategic shipping, CRYOPDP active solutions for Temperature-Controlled Pharmaceuticals use advanced Containers to transport larger consignments while actively regulating temperature and humidity levels throughout the air freight journey. The range of active solutions containers includes Envirotainers RKN E1, RAP E2, and CSafe RKN, optimised for compatibility with wide-body aircraft that accommodate one and five EU pallets.
- Dry Vapor Shippers: Designed to safely transport and store cryopreserved biological samples such as cellular and genetic material, vaccines, human samples, sperm and oocytes, and microorganisms at temperatures down to -196ºC over extended periods of up to ten days. These insulated aluminium vessels from CRYOPDP’s sister company, MVE, are filled with liquid nitrogen (LN2) and incorporate absorbent materials to ensure a dry phase with no free-flowing liquid for maximum security and efficiency. They come in various sizes and capacities.
- Dry Ice: CRYOPDP can provide Dry Ice (solid CO2) conditioned in various TCP formats that include mini pellets, pellets, slices, and blocks to suit a range of volumes that can be replenished as needed. The local implementation provides CRYOPDP with endless dry ice production capacity and the ability to supply in adapted packaging such as cardboard, polystyrene, graphite, or specific containers with crucial safety equipment, including gloves, glasses, and O2 gas detectors.
- Temperature-controlled vehicles: CRYOPDP’s TCV trucks and vans have dedicated refrigeration units to maintain specific temperature ranges within their insulated and thermostatically controlled cargo compartments. Since these TCVs can effectively maintain controlled temperatures over extended periods, supported by GPS and temperature tracking, they provide ideal solutions for transporting large and heavy-weight pallet-sized bulk shipments between city centres and remote locations.
Packaging needs are also met by CRYOPDP’s various service portfolios, from the most cost-effective to the most tailored for specialised needs. This suite of practical solutions crafted to fit client needs includes:
