Brevetti Angela to present latest prefilled syringe developments at BFS IOA Asia/Pacific
Vicenza, Italy: – Leading manufacturer of high technology pharma packaging machinery, Brevetti Angela Srl, will round out its 2022 series of Blow-Fill-Seal International Operators Association appearances at December’s BFS IOA Asia/Pacific meeting in Singapore.
Once again, Brevetti Angela will share latest developments in its journey to develop the innovative O-Flow prefilled syringe produced by sister company 3CK.
Drawing on experience
As a leading member of the BFS IOA, Brevetti Angela has co-sponsored all the association’s events for more than a decade. As usual, it will contribute to the science and technology conference agenda with Sales & Marketing Director Eng. Rajeev Kabbur presenting ‘Update on new generation of prefilled syringes‘ on the morning of the first day of the conference (December 1, 1055 hrs).
Mr. Kabbur’s presentation will trace the story of Brevetti Angela’s development of prefilled syringes manufactured on BFS machines. He will go through five product generations, starting with a squeezable, single-use container; this was followed by a two-component syringe with embedded needle, and then by a more standard-looking plunger device with volumes ranging from 0.5ml to 20ml. Such long research in developing the prefilled syringes on BFS started at the end of the Nineties, and gradually showed and solved the faults in the previous devices, until today Brevetti Angela was able to partner with 3CK to present the 5th generation O-Flow.
Fifth generation advantages
Mr. Kabbur will explain how the 5th Gen 3CK O-Flow solution overcomes the key issue that has plagued prefilled syringes; the use of silicone oil to ease plunger movement that can also form submicron- and micron-size oil droplets when syringe is agitated, potentially leading to early- and late-stage immune responses.
The O-Flow is silicone-free and yet completely eliminates break loose force, making plunger movement much easier and more controlled. The new syringes also use materials with lower protein adsorption properties to suppress protein aggregation.
They are also compliance-friendly with large printable surfaces available for laser-printed markings and product related information and being formable from a wide range of materials including PP, COC, COP, Multilayer, TPE, TPV, and Bromobutyle that can both reduce oxygen and moisture transmission and also help reduce extractables and leachables.

About BFS IOA Asia/Pacific Meeting 2022
The Pharmaceutical Blow-Fill-Seal International Operators Association (BFS IOA) is an international industry association for pharmaceutical and associated companies with direct or indirect involvement with Blow-Fill-Seal (BFS) manufacturing. BFS IOA is a non-profit organization financed by subscription of more than 60 member companies worldwide and by sponsorships from the industry.
The association’s Asia/Pacific meeting for 2022 is a two-day event opening December 1 at the Paradox Merchant Court at Singapore’s Clarke Quay.
The event will include presentations from Brevetti Angela and other leading manufacturers of BFS technology, including prefillable syringes, cool BFS, sustainable BFS Bormed solutions, disposables, container closure integrity testing (CCIT) solutions for BFS containers, and automatic visual inspection of BFS container blocks. The meeting will also feature workshops on EU Annex 1 regulations and compliance and Defect Classification.
