Vienna, Austria: Biotech innovators TAmiRNA is returning to the European Calcified Tissue Society (ECTS) Congress in Budapest to present new scientific research results on microRNA (miRNA) biomarkers for bone disease.

TAmiRNA is also an exhibitor at the event, from Booth 12 at the Budapest Congress Center, co-hosted by distribution partner Biomedica. Its display will feature its suite of osteomiR products and services, including the osteomiR kit that enables rapid detection of 19 bone specific microRNAs that could serve as novel validated microRNA bone biomarkers for bone quality and early diagnosis and prognosis of high imminent fracture risk in osteoporosis.

    osteomiR applications

TAmiRNA will also present results from its latest research on application of osteomiR technology using microRNA biomarkers for diagnosis of bone disease.

The TAmiRNA presence in Budapest will be led by CEO Dr. Matthias Hackl, assisted by osteomiR Product Manager, Dr. Hanna Dellago, who will host the display stand with the Biomedica team to answer visitor scientific and technical questions.

    New diagnostic possibilities

Dr. Hackl commented” “Over a number of years we have been consistent supporters of ECTS, which serves as a very valuable forum for researchers and clinicians working in the musculoskeletal field to discover and discuss the latest advances and controversies in research and in the daily care of patients.”

“In 2019 at Budapest, we will join our distributor to present our products and services. Particularly our osteomiR kit that enables rapid detection of microRNAs that could serve as novel validated bone biomarkers for early diagnosis and prognosis of high imminent fracture risk in osteoporosis and bone quality,” said Dr. Hackl.

    Scientific contribution

On day three of the congress, TAmiRNA co-founder Dr. Johannes Grillari, will talk on “How to start a spin-off” during the “NI Mentoring Session”. This is an interactive session giving the New Investigators an opportunity to discuss various topics with the leaders in the field: Interactive, round table discussion. Light snacks and beverages will be provided.

    About TAmiRNA

Privately owned and headquartered in Vienna, TAmiRNA GmbH is a biotech company specialized in the identification and validation of non-coding RNAs as biomarkers for age-related diseases. The mission of TAmiRNA is to provide clinically useful biomarkers to improve and prolong patient stability, health and quality of life with increasing age.

TAmiRNA specializes in technologies for profiling levels of blood-circulating microRNAs and developing multi-parametric classification algorithms (“signatures”). TAmiRNA uses these technologies to develop minimal-invasive diagnostic tests for early diagnosis and prognosis of disease, or as companion diagnostic tests to support treatment decisions.

TAmiRNA’s pipeline includes developments in osteoporosis, cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes, and cancer, which aim to provide ‘microRNA kit’ solutions that enable users to quantify the levels of specific microRNA combinations and platelet function in serum, plasma, urine or other biofluids. The company initially developed kits for bone disease (osteomiR) and cardiovascular disease (thrombomiR).

TAmiRNA also offers contract research services for companies in need of targeted biomarker development. Customers include biopharma companies with drug development programs in human and veterinary medicine, medtech companies and clinical research groups.
