Bonfiglioli Engineering opens new global headquarters

Ferrara, Italy: –A formal opening ceremony today celebrated the move of Package Integrity solutions specialist Bonfiglioli Engineering (BE) to purpose-built new headquarters in the industrial area of Ferrara in Northern Italy.

BE, a member of the Tasi Group, is leaving its old premises in Ferrara’s Vigarano Pieve area, from where it has built up a worldwide reputation over more than 40 years of professionalism, expertise and success in the world of QC solutions for packaging, manufacturing leading-edge pharmaceutical packaging testing and inspection solutions under the Bonfiglioli Engineering brands.

Two-day ceremony

The advent of the new Via Amerigo Vespucci headquarters, marked by an official ribbon-cutting ceremony today, marks more than a change of address for Bonfiglioli Engineering. It also marks substantial improvements in working spaces, employee welfare and production facilities.

The ceremony is the start of two days of celebrations that will also include the presentation of the company (guided tour included) followed by gala dinner and technical presentations about production range and market overview shared with agents tomorrow (May 23).

Highest standards

The new production site adapts an existing factory, which has been completely renovated and restructured in line with latest building guidelines, guaranteeing repurposing and re-use of existing structures to the highest current standards.

This is the end-result of a project developed with a team of architects, engineers, surveyors and consultants in various fields including Lean Manufacturing and Just in Time (JIT) technologies. The building conversion was planned and designed, in many areas from scratch, with a specific focus on people and work activities.

Work included assessment of each structural block, following a monitoring campaign and invasive but non-destructive tests by authorized specialist laboratories.

Enhanced sustainability

After renovation and upgrading of every aspect of the building, the new site was developed to the most stringent safety and environmental standards and guidelines, including a new roof in the production area with safe removal of the old asbestos, installation of a heating and cooling system based on high-efficiency heat pumps and creation of dedicated construction and testing spaces within the production area. In addition, installation of solar panels will reduce energy consumption, resulting in economic benefits for the company and bolstering its sustainability.

The result is the creation of modern, bright spaces equipped with the best technologies to guarantee maximum efficiency and full compliance with all environmental and safety regulations, with attention to consumption and optimization of resources.

Boosting productivity

The new headquarters stands on a site covering more than a hectare, with built-on areas totaling some 6000 m².

This ample space has allowed BE to create different zones and buildings with distinct characteristics specifically tailored to respond to the various professional requirements. Production areas are organized into adjacent zones with communicating spaces, for efficient, functional movement and logistics, both internal and external, designed to boost productivity.

Other spaces, like the lounge area and inner courtyard are designed to promote the wellbeing and comfort of employees, collaborators and clients.
