ZellBio has specialized in development of high quality, easy to perform, and highly sensitive ZELLX® bioassay and immunoassay kits with the focus on oxidative stress, HPA axis stress response, coronavirus analysis and reproductive studies to satisfy the demands of researchers worldwide.
ZELLX® product lines follow three main pathways:
- Oxidative stress & Antioxidants: ZELLX® provides a range of colorimetric-based assays to evaluate the amount of both enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidants in oxidative stress pathways that form common types of toxicity, defined by imbalances between reactive oxygen species (ROS) and the ability of biological systems to detoxify them.
- HPA axis: ZELLX® has also developed a series of bioassays to assess hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis interactions that play important roles in stress response and regulation of biological processes, including digestion and energy usage, immune response, sexuality and emotions. These ELISA and chemiluminescent assays measure plasma levels of glucocorticoid hormones cortisol and corticosterone that are the end products of HPA axis feedback loop.
- Molecular biology: In rapid response to the coronavirus pandemic, ZellBio has developed ZELLX® branded ELISA and PCR-related tools for molecular and serological analysis of Covid-19, with more generalized SARS-COV2 viral tools also in development.
ZELLX® is also developing research tools for use in the area of Reproduction, starting with assays for Oxytocin, Aldosterone, Progesterone, Testosterone and estradiol, the hormones which are involved in key aspects of sexual behaviors and social bonding.
Company history and structure
ZellBio GmbH was founded in 2011 with initial focus on providing reagents and ELISA Kits for demanding applications in the life-sciences market. Over the years, the company has progressively deepened and extended its expertise in molecular biology and bioassays.
In 2017, it opened its production line for branded ZELLX® high quality Bioassay and Immunoassay Kits.
Headquartered at Lonsee, near Ulm in Baden-Württemberg in Southern Germany, the company has expanded its presence with a Berlin office opened in 2018 to provide customers with logistics support across the EU.
ZellBio has also negotiated numerous distributor arrangements to provide global access to its products.
Quality, Regulatory and Standards
All ZELLX® products meet the highest safety and quality standards, and are supplied with a Materials Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), and Certificate of Analysis (CoA), upon customer’s request.
Some ZELLX® assays such as Cortisol ELISA, Nitric Oxide, Creatinin, and BUN Assay kits, use the standards calibrated with the reference standards of National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).
ZELLX® has strict quality control (QC) standards to ensure the highest levels of assay performance. The QC validation tests for its Bioassay kits include inter-assay and intra-assay precision, linearity range determination, Limit of Detection, recovery, and stability tests
Oxytocin ELISA and CLIA assays have been calibrated based on the standards of National Institute for Biological Standards and Control (NIBSC).
All ZELLX® products are solely produced under Research Use Only (RUO) regulations, and are not intended to use for in vitro diagnostics (IVD)
