Polymorph Screening Methods

Polymorph screening methods are used to search, identify and characterise new polymorphs, here at PolyCrystalLine we use customized “hand-made” crystallization experiments to achieve this. We use a wide variety of solvents, and different temperature and pressure conditions in a range of experiments, including slurry, evaporation and various kinds of precipitation.

Different polymorphs of a drug substance can have different chemical and physical properties. This diversity can create differences in melting points, chemical reactivity, apparent solubility, dissolution rate, optical and mechanical properties, vapour pressure and density. Consequently polymorphism can affect the quality, safety, and efficiency of the final product.
