MEDELPHARM brings new roll compaction simulation capabilities to AAPS 2015 Orlando
Beynost, France: – Research-based tablet press manufacturer and powder compaction specialists MEDELPHARM will showcase exciting new roller compaction simulation capacities at the prestige American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) annual meeting and exposition in Orlando Florida.
MEDELPHARM will share a prominent 20×20 island stand (Booth 302) at the Exposition with its global distributor, Romaco Kilian and scientific partner Pharmaceutical Technologies International, Dr. Metin Celik.
A highlight of the MEDELHARM display will be the new capability to perform simulation of roller compaction on the latest model STYL’One Evolution servo-mechanical compaction simulator.
Roll Compaction Simulation
The simulation is based on scientific publications and uses a principle in which powder is compressed with a sine wave displacement of the punches.
The powder bed is under similar compression stress as a layer of powder caught in the nip angle of the rollers until its release. Each compaction is modeled on a portion of a ribbon on a given target roller compactor stabilized in production at ‘known’ parameters for gap, hydraulic force on rolls, feeding, density, solid fraction, etc. These same parameters can then be optimised for full-scale production.
Several research modes are available:
The standard mode which uses target solid fraction and gap while the other more advance mode allows you to use other machine parameters as variables.
For complete simulation of a dry granulation process, Medelpharm can supply you with specific milling equipment and other tools dedicated for research.
STYL’One in action
Visitors to the stand will also be able to see the STYL’One Evolution LIVE producing real samples of production in multilayer and tab-in-tab.
STYL’One is a versatile and easy to use research press that covers the whole range of applications from early formulation of API to high speed multilayered formulation scale-up, at speeds of up to 300.000 tablets per hour. Combining the flexibility and multilayer capacity of the classic STYL’One with the speed and simulation function of the STYLCAM, the STYL’One Evolution can provide a real R&D “tableting robot” that can automatically explore design space while analyzing formulas with utmost efficiency and precision.

About AAPS 2015
The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists (AAPS) Annual Meeting and Exposition is a landmark event for the pharmaceutical industry. It provides an international forum for the exchange of knowledge among scientists and the pharmaceutical industry to enhance their contributions to public health.
AAPS 2015 is a five-day event opening October 26 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
The meeting provides a prominent annual opportunity for scientists from various disciplines to meet their peers; discuss the latest research topics presented at contributed paper poster sessions; discuss projects with current and new suppliers.
During the 3-days exposition 7 000 exhibitors from Pharma have registered already to present their latest technologies.
The 2014 meeting in San Diego, California, attracted more than 75,000 delegates from dozens of countries.
The 2014 scientific program will use more than 15 workshops to focus on a very wide range of topics, organised under seven major topic streams: Big Data; Drug Delivery Technologies; Impurities; Microdialysis, Imaging & Target Site: Modeling, Transporters and Regulatory Challenges Affecting Global Community.
